PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

A. ENGINEERING SURVEYOR AT MWEA IRRIGATION PROJECT PACKAGE II

(CONSTRUCTION OF IRRIGATION AND DRAINAGE FACILITIES) UNDER GEOSCOPE SURVEYING AND COMPUTING COMPANY FOR NIPPON KOEI/ GIBB AFRICA AS A LAND SURVEYOR SEP. 2017 – UP TO NOW Among the duties assigned to me included;

a. Supervision of the contractor working in different sections of the project area. b. Providing both horizontal and vertical controls. c. Setting out of structures and tertiary canal alignment. d. Making sure that the as-built levels have been achieved as per the designs and specifications.

e. Planning, supervision and execution of survey work. f. Topographical survey of the G-Section and generating cross-sections facilitating extraction of quantities for preparation of contractor’s payments. g. Production of contour maps in CAD Drawings.

h. Earthwork volumes computation.

Among the duties assigned to me included;

a. Supervision of the contractor working in different sections of the project area. b. Providing both horizontal and vertical controls. c. Setting out of dam structures including spillway, Sand trap, Coffer dam, Main dam, Dam inspection roads and a pipeline irrigation project. d. Making sure that the as-built levels have been achieved as per the designs and specifications.

e. Planning, supervision and execution of survey work. f. Topographical survey of the G-Section and generating cross-sections facilitating extraction of quantities for preparation of contractor’s payments. g. Production of contour maps in CAD Drawings. h. Earthwork volumes computation. h. Managing and supervising the survey team to work in line with the set targets and goals.

i. Supervising the contractor’s survey team to make sure that the requested activities are done as expected and timely.

C. POWERHIVE EAST AFRICA AS A GIS SPECIALIST JAN. 2017 – SEP 2017 Among my duties were;

a. Design feasibility tests using SWARM analysis.

b. GIS design of power distribution lines and transmission lines using Google Earth pro software and QGIS.

c. New Market identification, analysis for Micro grid business development in the new markets internationally.

d. Construction of overhead lines of electricity.

e. Allocating interns tasks and supervising them in the working process reviewing all their work to make sure that what is given out is of the highest standard possible as it may be required.

f. Helping the contract in the construction process in the field making sure that what they are doing reflects what is in the design.

g. Helping the GIS coordinator in the preparation of a payment scheme for the interns. h. Checking and reviewing the data that is received from the field technical survey people ensuring that it’s of the required standard and processing it in a suitable format for the designated purpose.

i. Supervising and managing the contractor to make sure that the designs are correctly interpreted and built to the required standard as depicted by the design. D. POWERHIVE EAST AFRICA AS A GIS DATA ACQUISITION AGENT INTERN SEPT. 2016 – DEC 2016

Among my duties were;

a. Design of solar micro grid networks for off grid communities using QGIS and Google Earth software.

b. Solar generation site setting out and location of shared cluster meter through hand held GNSS (Satellite Navigation) receivers.

c. Design of King and Knights clusters and distribution lines for power supply to customers.

d. Digitizing of spatial records (Using QGIS) for the purpose of creation of a GIS Database for potential off grid sites.

e. Viable site Identification and Household feature extraction across African using Google satellite images and QGIS.

E. KENYA URBAN ROADS AUTHORITY (KURA) AS AN ASSISTANT SURVEYOR FROM APRIL 2016 -AUGUST 2016

Among the duties assigned to me included;

a. Carrying out topographical surveying using total station Leica TC 1201, Leica TS 11, south and Topcon ES series.

b. Staking out of roads using total station Leica TC Leica 1201, TS 11, south and Topcon ES 105 series. Taking levels using dumpy level and calculations of reduced levels and volumes from the existing ground levels.

c. Using civil 3D, AutoCAD and ArcGIS in plotting of topographical data and design. d. Establishing of land boundaries through placing of beacons of lands along the proposed roads. Calculation of volumes of earthwork on the proposed roads. e. Using of photogrammetric technique in data acquisition and collection. F. FIELD T R I P TO N A I R O B I U N I V E R S I T Y S U R V E Y CAMP, KIBWEZI FIELD STATION FROM JUNE 2015 – JULY 2015

At the camp I did;

a. Extension of control station using theodolite, total station and the RTK GPS system through triangulation, traversing and leveling.

b. Carrying out topographical surveying to represent camp compound. c. Carrying out a 5km profiling along Kibwezi – Kitui road.

c. Carrying out of curve setting out.

d. Carried out cadastral surveying in the camp farm. ACHIEVEMENTS

D e s i g n i n g of a number of off grid sites at Power hive East Africa that have been established and running in Kisii region.

C o m p l e t i o n of Denis Pritt road between the Woodlands round about and the Jakaya Kikwete road junction where I was the assistant surveyor to the required design standards while working at Kenya Urban Roads Authority.
