Work Experience

Medical Lab Technician Grade-1 2009–Present

PHLEBOTOMY

Collection of blood from patients through venipuncture. Labelling of vaccutainers or tubes and collect blood in appropriate anticoagulant. Centrifugation of samples and transportation to appropriate working areas. Collection of blood from volunteer blood donors in blood bags (Double bags, triple bags, Quin bagd and Quad bags). Give pre donation and post donation instructions to donors. Documentation related to phlebotomy

Microbiology department:

Microbiology techniques: Culture techniques, Bio-chemical slide preparation, Staining techniques and RT PCR section for processing Covid samples.

Biochemistry department:

Analysis of various parameters: RFT, LFT, Hormone assays, Immunoassays, Tumor markers, Lipid profile, Glucose tolerance test, Uric acid, RA, CRP, HBA1C, Magnesium, Iron profile ASO, Osmolarity, D-dimer, ABG (Arterial blood gases), Covid profile testing & RT PCR, Rapid Antigen testing analysis of CSF & other body fluids includes Ascitic fluids, Pleural fluids etc.

Methods performed on day to day basis include: Chemiluminescence, ELISA, Photometry, Potentiometery and Molecular techniques

Equips handling on daily basis: Modular P 800, Cobas c311, Rx IMOLA, Hitachi 902 (autoanalyzer), Erba Chem 5+ (semi-autoanalyzer), Metabolite analyzer (Radiometer), Osmometer, Chemiliminescence.

Capable of handling bulk Samples: Processed 1400 samples on weekly basis which amounts to approximately 7000 tests per week.

Independently performing tasks in lab that include Phlebotomy (venipuncture, capillary method), sample collection in appropriate vacutainers, sample labelling, sorting & preservation, sample processing, preparation of serum and plasma, autoclaving and sterilization, reagent preparation, maintaining stocks of all reagents, preparation of media and buffers as per requirement.

Was a part of team involved in sample collection for Serosurveillance against COVID-19 antibodies in the city.

Frequency of tests analyzed in lab per day: 6500 tests per day.

Department of Transfusion Medicine:

Phlebotomy: Collection of sample from patient by venipuncture and finger prick, Collection of blood from donor using double bags/triple bags & quin bags.

Storage of blood bags & testing of samples including blood grouping & other types of transfusion transmitted infections (HIV, Hepatitis B&C, VDRL, Malaria etc.)

Issuing of blood bags to the recipients & preparation of blood bags before issuing.

Preparation of blood components such as fresh frozen plasma, packed red blood cells, platelet concentrate etc.

Various testing of blood bags like blood grouping (direct/indirect) cross matching technique & direct/ indirect coombs test.

Assist in procedures for apheresis.

Quality control: Performing quality check of anti sera(Titres,specificity,avidity etc) and blood components (Culture and other counts of blood components such as hematocrit for PRBC and platelet and WBC count for platelets and coagulation factors for FFP)

Maintenance of Lab Equipments and calibration.
