Since INTEK Tapes Pvt Ltd was interested in diversifying into LC manufacture, a key product for Pharma, biopharma, nutraceutical and allied business verticals, promoted this company with the post incubated indigenous technology conceptualized and developed. Assigned the first Indian patent to INTEK group that culminated in this company operational since 2012. With production capability over 600% and versatility, the range of product brands are qualified traceable to NIST, Gaithersburg, USA. In coordination with U.S. Pharmacopeia, Maryland, USA all our brands are USP listed and are being marketed to said business sectors in India & overseas at palatable costs and short lead times compared to OEMs, besides offering techno support upon customer drive. Newer parametric definitions conceptualized and verified are hitherto unknown in chromatography and are beneficial in the development of next-gen technique variant on the anvil globally, a decade since.

Vice President- R&D, 2012-Present: Adjoint Responsibility Intek Tapes Pvt Ltd, BIA, Bangalore, India.

Business: Specialty PST Tapes R&D and Entrepreneurship

Involved in the design, development and manufacture of varieties of Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Tapes for various Industries by Coating technique. Almost as an EOU is bagging awards as forefront exporters in India. These PST efficiencies are monitored by sol-gel, viscoelasticity and tack control in the formulation. Simulated technique development is done to match and support customer application environment in various industries.

GM & CSO: 2008-2012 Promoted Company LGC Standards (UK), R&D Centre, PIA, Bangalore, India.

Business: Separations Science &Technology

Columns Packing Technology that was a failure in Runcorn, UK was spearheaded as an individual contributor using FMEA, DMAIC and DMADOV. A safe, walk in-walk out packing station for LC columns packing in all scales was successfully designed in a month’s time. Columns processed with Osaka, Japan media had exotic properties in the criterion range of global OEMs and re-validated as worthy by LGC in several UK universities. In consonance with the post incubator exuberance and value impact in productivity in sizeable magnitude (>600%) as lucrative, cost and short lead time, several packing stations were installed to run across the mill in building India market share. These columns of commercial value are being marketed in India.

GM-Technical: 2004 –2008 Promoted Company LGC Standards (UK), R&D Centre, PIA, Bangalore, India.

Business: Pharma reference Standards

Using 6M's and PARATO, established the state-of-art R&D laboratory successfully operational in a month for synthesis and export of Pharma reference standards as EOU unit in India. In coordination with our global partners in Lukenwalde, Germany and Teddington, London, led a team of 24 Scientists and delivered about 200 standard molecules of purity >97%. A business proposal for LGC distributorship of cell line cultures from ATCC, USA was successful. Offered business and technical support to HPLC column partners in Tokyo and Osaka. The value impact of these businesses in realization are continual with about 150 scientists today.

Job Experiences: Polymers/Polymer Composites, 1996-2003

Sr. Manager Tech 2003-2004 Crescent Polymers–Adhesive Technologies Inc. (USA), PIA, Bangalore, India.

Business: Polysilicones

Excellent learning career and contributions made were in the area of emulsion polymerization of silicones and manufacture for various Health and Hygiene Industries.

Polymer Scientist-IC, 2001-2003 GE(USA), John F Welch Technology Center, (Global R & D) India.

Business: GE Plastics; Non-Halogen Flame Retardant & Cycoloy Composite materials

As individual Contributor, developed Next-Gen Eco-Complaint Synergists, Additives and FR Grade Thermoplastics/ Blends per WEEE 2006 Regulations for Global OEMs in Electrical and Electronic Industries. As DFSS project, Synthesized and characterized novel eco-friendly Non-halogen P, N containing carbonific spumescents stable up to 400C. Conceived newer P, N, Si containing Polymers not known in the CAS Registry as prospective candidates. Blend processed FR composites with filled Polyester, PPO, PC, PC/Polyester, PC/ABS/SAN, ABS/Polyamide were subjected to UL94 and other characterizations to meet major Customer to Quality functions. Know-how to GE, Bergon Op Zoom (NL), Mt. Vernon (USA) and Moka (Japan). Considering the continuum model of Polymer Pyrolysis, a novel MTP technique diagnostic of the FR efficacy was conceived, designed, developed at a cost of $2700. This patentable predictive technique uses <1gm specimen, enables quick screening of FR additives of their efficiency in <70secs and speeds up programs in related industries. Retardancy profiles acquired provides solid-gas burning surface temperature, permits intermediary analysis, physical modeling studies unlike in Cone Calorimeter.

Manager, 1996-2001 W.S Busak Shamban (USA)-Rollon Bearings Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, India.

Business: PTFE based Tribological Composites for Automobile, Pneumatic Power, Machine tool, Textile, Electrical Industries and structural Engineering.

Low friction metal filled PTFE based Composite billets manufactured similar to Busak Shamban had better performance. Enhanced productivity of 74% achieved by reducing 14% raw material, 72 hrs sintering process to 24 hrs and by reducing clearance angle for 7% extra skived length. Developed graphite, carbon fibers, POM, MoS2, ceramic filled PTFE composites, expansion joints, filled-epoxy Putty and Coatable systems with exotic properties. Successfully commissioned the country’s first Cryomilling plant to recycle the PTFE composite/PTFE waste stock with capabilities close to that in Russia. Wrote L1 & L2 QSM Manuals, conducted Audits, acquired ISO9002 Certification in 8 months.

Educational: Propellant Chemistry & Project Contributions, 1980-1996

Postdoctoral, 1991-1996 Indian Institute of Science, India.

Aerospace Engineering Department, ISRO-IISc Advanced Space Technology Cell, Co-Investigator, R & D.

Program: Hybrid Rocket and Composite Solid Propellants

Developed novel hypergolic hydrazine-based polyurethanes and epoxy resins suitable as energetic Binders for Hybrid and Composite solid Rocket Propellants. Bis (bisvanillincarbanohydrazone-4’-oxy) butane 1,4-diyldiether and bis (bis-vanillinthiocarbano hydrazone-4’-oxy) butane 1,4’-diyldiether and epoxy resins synthesized were characterized. Hypergolic Hybrid and Composite Solid propellants were evaluated as building blocks by profiling hypergolicity. High volume impulse identified them as gas generator propellants also for Airbag in AORS. These studies became town NEWS in dailies indeed and the know-how were transferred to Sponsor Agencies.

Doctoral, Chemistry 1983-1991 Indian Institute of Science, India.

Inorganic & Physical Chemistry Department

Program: Elastomer / Model- fuel based Composite solid Propellant.

Major portion of doctoral work is published in PRC Ser A, (London) for the first time from the country in the field. A novel thermodynamic model, diagnostic of the true burning surface activation energy as a floating parameter of the true condensed phase and gas phase activation energies hitherto unknown, is developed. This model adequately explains subtle performance features in Ammonium Perchlorate (AP), AP/aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, AP/CTPB, AP/PBAA, AP/PU, AP/Polysulfide mono-and composite propellants, extendable to Flame retardants. A new molecular weight sensitivity parameter defined and hitherto unknown establishes binder structure-burn rate relationship. Burn rate of elastomeric composite propellant is predicted based on the chemical structure of ferrocene derivatives using group contribution approach.
