PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

In the mid-2000s, I became involved with cyber security. During that time, before scanner tools were available, I manually examined multiple software platforms (Windows, Unix) and CISCO IOS (routers/switches/ATM) for vulnerabilities on a quarterly basis. These vulnerabilities were reported to us by DISA. My job was to identify applicable vulnerabilities and was responsible for implementing any required patches.

My cybersecurity role increased as our products evolved and became more complex. I’ve taken lead roles when more staffing was required. I am accustomed to working with the software development group to resolve issues. I am also proficient and writing and maintaining detailed test procedures.

I maintained one of the armies (early 2000s) mobile networks in our lab. My role involved maintaining CISCO router, ATM, and switch configurations as well as IOS upgrading.

I spent time working with video teleconferencing using ruggedized laptops (which had video cards) and multi-conferencing units (video servers). I implemented quality of service (QoS) in CISCO routers and ATM switches using resource reservation protocol (RSVP).

My first role at General Dynamics was on an R&D project that involved writing AODV (ad-hoc on demand routing protocol) in C/C++, to simulate mobile network elements randomly entering the network. I also learned National Instrument’s propriety language (solely from their help menus) with an out of the box approach to simulate (graphically) nodes moving around a map.

After college, I worked at MEDITECH as a Programmer/Analyst. I was responsible for implementing their software with dozens of hospitals. In that role, I was also responsible for submitting software defects and suggested fixes to the development team.

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science in Computer Informational Science from University Massachusetts Dartmouth in January 1998.

Associates in science from Bristol Community College. Dean’s list one semester.
