Description: Walgreen Co. is the largest drug stores retailer in the United States, with more than 8500 stores. Walgreens is a chain of pharmacy stores across USA. These stores get the items by DCs or Directly to the stores by the vendors.

Item Management is basic need of the Retail Industry and business growth depends on the right items present at right time in stores. PSMP area deals with end-to-end life cycle of item in the Walgreens system, from setup to the maintenance, pricing and finally its disposition.

And Deals are a major source of income, worth hundreds of millions of dollars each year. The Category Manager is in charge of negotiating deals and managing the deal funds. The purpose of Deal Entry System is to provide an application to create and maintain the thousands of deals that are negotiated annually with vendors. Deals Entry System under PDM area, provides a mechanism to Purchasing Department to keep track of all deals for accounting purposes. It enables other departments, such as Accounting, Marketing Services, and Purchasing to manage the deal funds received from vendors. It helps Accounting by providing the data from the deal system to manage the financial relationships with the vendors once the deal terms have been met. Also, it helps corporate management by providing the data from the deal system to manage earnings on various programs and also determine how much vendors are participating in Walgreens merchandising and promotional programs.
