PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

IDL / Kane Logistics, Senior Director of Operations 3/2020 – 1/2023

Responsible for the leadership of 9 Distribution centers across Pennsylvania, New York and California consisting of 5.6 M sq. ft., with a $70M Regional revenue budget. During the outbreak of COVID-19 established procedures to ensure safe and continuous operations.

Beat budgeted margin by 15% in 2022 in a region with the oldest accounts in the company.

Provided comprehensive leadership in Safety resulting in a Regional OSHA Recordable Incident Rate of 0.00 in 2022 through building GEMBA Safety walks and calls to identify and prevent future issues.

Initiated a wage study to stabilize the Allentown, PA operation and reduce / eliminate costly contract employees.

oDespite increasing the average wage by $5/hr., achieved a labor cost reduction of $53,000 monthly and turned a potential end of contract into a signed five year deal.

oAfter implementation I approached all customers about supporting the stipend. 70% of them agreed to fund it for the success of their operations.

oThe program was implemented across the company.

Led successful startup of 3 new operations in PA, NY and CA, all of which came on line under budget by $75,000 in an increasingly difficult labor market nationwide.

Kane Logistics, General Manager 5/2018 – 3/2020

Assigned as the General Manager for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board account due to concerns from the customer. This was a key account for Kane. The account was not meeting customer expectations prior to a contract renewal.

Developed a staffing plan and increased shift differential to recruit and retain associates. This was successfully implemented and resulted in zero pushed loads during the “Holiday Build up” season.

Implemented an OS&D LEAN Project.

oInitiated the use of cloud based software for analyzing pictures of pick up loads. Followed the case audits to deliver DCs information about mishandling, which resulted in a savings of $280,000 annually.

oInstalled orbital wrappers versus turn table wrappers resulting in an $8,000 ROI in year 1 due to damage reduction.

Replaced twine layer securement with rubber band layer securement, resulting in more stable pallets and a reduction of $7,000 damage cost annually.

Kane Warehousing, DCM 5/2012 – 5/2018

Led a 744,000 sq. ft. operation for Kimberly-Clark that encompassed all aspects of distribution: receiving, storage, shipping, inventory and order processing. In addition, responsible for a customization and packaging operation, as well as yard operations. Responsible for the leadership of over 90 associates.

Increased associate involvement through projects that demonstrated improvement and implementation of associate ideas. This resulted in the following awards:

oKimberly-Clark Service Excellence Award 2012, 2013 and 2017 for top 3PL provider in the network.

oKane 2012 and 2013 Achievement Award for KPI Performance and Idea Scale respectively

oKane 2013 President’s Level Safety Award for two years incident free.

Implemented an end cap pallet orientation and aligned the DC to this methodology. This resulted in the ability to store an additional 40 truckloads in the DC resulting in a $20,000 annual savings in overflow storage during peak season.

Implemented a tracking methodology to compare associate RF gun time to ADP paid time. At initial implementation there was a 12% gap between paid time and RF gun time.

o3 months after implementation improved the facility to a 3% gap, resulting in a $15,000 savings in paid time.

oAfter one year, moved the goal to 1% and below resulting in another $10,000 annual savings in paid time.

Kalstar / Kane Warehousing DCM 6/2007 – 4/2012

Responsible for a Procter & Gamble 1.7 million square foot warehousing and copack operation with more than 318 employees. The operation covered all aspects of warehousing: receiving, storage, shipping, inventory and order processing. In addition, responsible for a customization and packaging operation, as well as yard operations and plant shuttle. After only 12 months in position reversed a trend of negative monthly profit. Averaged $40,000 per month profit, which was a $500,000 turnaround year over year. Increased all functional efficiency metrics to above goal where they were previously failing. This was accomplished by setting progressive goals and accountability.

Increased the safety culture of the management and at the associate level to decrease the OSHA recordable incidents at the site. Beating the company goal of 2.0.

Implemented key procedures and all ISO documentation for the account.

MILITARY EXPERIENCE

United States Marine Corps Active / Reserve 1/1993 – 11/2005

Attained the rank of Captain and served in multiple billets and leadership positions. Served as a Battalion Executive Officer (normally held by a Major). Served as a Company Commander twice, Division Reconnaissance Officer, Company Executive Officer and Platoon Commander.
