Cyber Security Professional II (ISSO)
Primary ISSO for large 300+ person program with over 120 classified computers on several network domains.
Used Purifile for media downgrades and dirty word searches. This includes to lower-level classified systems as well as high to unclassified transfers.
Utilized Nessus to scan systems for vulnerabilities. Provided weekly and monthly IAVM patching updates to the customer.
Directed IT on which patches and upgrades to prioritize based on risk assessment. Worked with the IT group to document patches that couldn’t be applied for specific configuration reasons.
Conducted weekly audits of all systems using Splunk and GFI LAN Guard for audit reduction.
Submit new incoming hardware and software to the customer for approval before the hardware/software enters the area.
Organized shipments of classified hardware back to the customer per their destruction guidelines.
Obtained approval from customer to house unclassified standalone systems within the space, specifically meeting all TEMPEST separation requirements.
Produced full documentation to get networks accredited with DCID 6/3, and then worked the transition to an ICD503 accredited system going through the RMF process.
Managed multiple projects going on inside the space such as server room HVAC upgrades, specialized test facility reconfiguration, sprinkler head replacement, network cable replacement to bring the area up to current ICD503 standards as well as adding network ports to offices and cubicles.
Obtained approval from the customer to bring in their dedicated network. This projected started as only a few systems and has grown to over 20. This required writing and obtaining approval for multiple CONOPs’ to prove to the customer we had the necessary space and requirements.
Integrated vulnerability scanning and patching updates with multiple engineering groups.
Supported smaller ~75 computer area with many unique setups that were all required to have an approved CONOPs. Multiple systems with ATO’s and various levels of approval.
Coordinated and received approval for several cross-country moves of hardware.
Participated in successful inspections with the customer and accrediting agency.
Held Data Transfer Officer for both low to high and high to low transfers.
Worked with customers to obtain area accreditation, construction project approvals and some personnel approvals.
