Chemistry

Manual acetone testing is performed using K-Check tablets. Microbiology
Performs PCR testing for C. Difficile, Strep A, Flu A/B, GC/Chlamydia, and SARS-CoV-2 using the Cepheid Gene Xpert.
Manual immunoassay kit tests are performed for fecal lactoferrin, mono, rotavirus, and qualitative hCG.
Blood Bank
Performs automated ABORh, antibody screens, and AHG crossmatches using the Ortho Vision. Manual testing performed includes ABORh, antibody screens and identifications, antigen testing, DAT, crossmatches, cold antibody ID using pre-warming technique, and sickle cell screening.
Experience issuing units of packed RBCs, platelets, thawing and issuing FFP and cryoprecipitate.

The primary role of this position was to collect, process, and report the results for officers entering into the U.S. Air Force. ABO-Rh typing was performed using the Immucor Galileo Echo analyzer. Manual G6PD deficiency testing and sickle cell screens are also performed. Specimen collections were done up to three times a month, each averaging about 200 patients, but sometimes exceeded 350. When not performing the duties necessitated by a draw, participation in normal laboratory operations took precedence. November 2005-November 2008
