WORK HISTORY

School Board of Broward County – Fort Lauderdale, FL

Revised, modularized and updated old code bases to modern development standards, reducing operating costs and improving functionality.

Developed web programs used by several users simultaneously that displayed and updated budget information. These systems included the following applications: Budget balancing, Entry and Update of Unfunded Positions, Title I transaction entry and Update and Membership Projections.

Developed and maintained numerous reports used by Budget Analysts to evaluate and update the finances of District schools.

Collaborated on stages of systems development lifecycle from requirement gathering to production releases.

Gathered and defined customer requirements to develop clear specifications for project plans.

The implementation of these systems was done in a .Net environment using both VB.Net and Visual C#.

SQL is used as the data repository.

I was responsible for the initial and continued load of these tables which require initialization on a yearly basis. This process usually involves extracting data from an Excel Spreadsheet and inserting rows into a SQL table.

The screens for the online webapps and batch programs were developed using HTML and CSS. I was responsible for all of the SQL table design and all of the program design, testing, implementation and maintenance. There are several reports that are generated on an as needed basis. I am responsible for the design and maintenance and generation of these reports.

The successful implementation of these systems has led the Budget Department to a total revision of their operating procedures. Formerly, much of the work was done with spreadsheets. There were no web systems that could be used to provide easily accessible information to school principals and budget analysts in the areas covered by the new applications. Both the school principals and the budget analysts have reacted extremely favorably to the features of these systems.

Independent Contractor, 01/2008 to 03/2015

Various Assignments – Delray Beach, FL

As an independent contractor, I worked for several companies. My work during this time covered developing online systems using .Net with Visual Basic or Visual C#. The systems used SQL to add and modify data. My work involved designing and maintaining systems while working closely with database administrators and users of the system.

06/2008 to 01/2011

My major assignment during this time was working for Health Systems One in Hallandale Beach, Florida. As part of a team that was developing a health insurance billing system, I was responsible for designing and programming the billing program. This system was developed with .Net using Visual Studio with VB.Net and Visual C#. This function involved designing SQL tables and loading the tables from existing files. It was also necessary to generate monthly bills and reports based on the SQL data. Printing was done with Crystal Reports. The SQL used foreign keys and indexes for efficiency.

The system worked exactly as planned. The bills that were produced and the ability to view them electronically was a key feature of the system.

Mainframe Developer, 01/1988 to 01/2013

Various Employers – New Jersey, New York

ATT

Bell Laboratories

Chemical Bank

Credit Suisse

Blue Cross

As a mainframe developer I developed and maintained several batch and online systems. The applications were for banking and communications companies. I have extensive experience using CICS and IMS DC as front ends. I have used BMS and MFS for terminal access. The primary languages used were COBOL, PL/1 and Assembler. The database accessors were DB2, IMS DB/DC and VSAM. I am experienced in all of these.

Although I have not used mainframe technology recently, I have studied the technology rigorously and refreshed my knowledge of all facets of the technology. I am sure that I will perform well in a mainframe position.
