Engineers design computer systems to meet the particular requirements of their organization or clients. Technical Engineer should possess the ability to learn and work on changing and emerging technologies are the first point of contact for clients for issues concerning their computer systems and equipment. Technical Engineer keep track of users’ system issues until they are resolved by adhering to the agreed timelines. To resolve complex problems, engineers interact with clients through phone, emails or chats and provide unambiguously written instructions or technical manuals. Maintain procedural documents and reports.

Technical Support follow standard procedures of their organizations to resolve issues by escalating them to the relevant internal departments. Technical Support provide accurate feedback to customers promptly; ensure proper logging of all issues.

Engineers follow up with clients to make sure their computer systems are functioning properly after troubleshooting, prepare accurate reports promptly. Technical Support document technical knowledge in the knowledge database, also train people on how to use different types of systems.

Technical Engineer monitor daily performance of technical systems. Technical Support Engineer help companies deploy new software or hardware system.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Regularly provides technical support to all Administrative Offices and Academic Department in the Main Building: Accounting Department, Registrar’s Office, Rector’s and Vice Rector’s Offices, etc. And other academic departments and Organization in the different buildings: Office for Admission, Student Affairs and Student Organizations, Purchasing, TARC, Publishing, PE, FMO and other colleges without or limited support technician (e.g. Medicine, Music, Science, Parish Office, Fathers Residence and Central Seminary).

• Regularly provides technical support and computer maintenances to the Internet Areas of the Benavides Library, including computer units in the different section and branches (Ecclesiastical Faculties, Medicine and UST high School Libraries). Around 250 units are being maintained and supported regularly with different types of application platforms such as Microsoft and Mac.

• Regularly provides technical assistance to the Property Custodian Office for the proper identification

(specification, capabilities and unit value) of turned over units. Services include repair, documentation, setup and reconfiguration for re-distribution, auction, donation, re-use and disposal of the units.

• Provides support to the deployment, installation and maintenance of the POS machines and line printers of the Finance Department to all designated areas.

• Assists to the STEPS Software Group and Operation Group for the installation of system application, data encoding, enrolment setup and standby support, printing and hardware troubleshooting.

• Assist in the preparation of equipment and materials for deployment covering all section of the STEPS organization: Hardware and Networking Operations Group, Software Development Group, Cabling Group, Operations Group and the Technical Support Group.

• Assist in the deployment of KIOSK for the online viewing of grades, schedule, e-mail, enrolment, activities and others special events, etc.

• Assist in the preparation and setup of networking equipment during special events and activities in the University (e.g. homecoming, VIP visit special registration, online examinations, videoconferencing, etc.)

• Assist in the in-house processing, production and distribution of ID for Administrator’s, Dominicans, Faculty, Support Staff and Students. This includes regular maintenance and support for the ID Systems Locators installed in the different building as well as the integration of the Library Circulation area for the ID System.

• Assist in the inventory and safe-keeping of hardware equipment of STEPS (Desktop and Laptop Computers, cabling components peripherals.
