PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
Radiation Oncology-
I have worked as an Advanced Practiced Registered Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner in the area of Radiation Oncology. My responsibilities involve management of patients who are undergoing radiation therapy via standard XRT and also SBRT to areas in the body containing cancer tumors. Irradiated areas of the body containing different types of cancers include the brain, head and neck, eyes, parotid glands, vocal cords, thorax, chest, heart, lungs, breast, esophagus, stomach, gall bladder, pancreas, bowel, abdomen, pelvis, prostate, cervix/vaginal, anal/ rectal, cancers of the bone, spine, (some of which cause spinal cord compression requiring urgent intervention utilizing radiation therapy), ribs, extremities and skin.
Radiation therapy is utilized along with narcotic analgesics for pain control as well as to improve/resolve symptoms of paresthesia’s/paralysis with interventional radiation therapy when an area of the body; brain, spinal cord compression, nerves or organs were compromised by tumor involvement.
I perform New Patient Consultations, follow-up examinations after the patients have completed radiation therapy, manage patient’s toxicities while undergoing chemo-radiotherapy treatments in ‘weekly treatment management’ visits and provide patient education in an ongoing fashion. I also dictate Completion of Therapy Notes.
I closely follow thyroid cancer patients for a period of 10 years, status-post total thyroidectomy surgery, who have undergone subsequent Radioactive Ablative Iodine-131 Therapy as well as those cancer patients that have undergone external beam radiation treatments to the thyroid bed.
I also closely monitor prostate cancer patients for a period of 5 years following external beam radiation and /or Prostate Seed Brachytherapy Implantation and I have performed urethrograms during treatment planning CT simulations to prepare for external beam radiation therapy. Additionally, I have cared for patients who have undergone Quadramet and Xofigo therapy for castrate resistant prostate cancers who experience painful, symptomatic, metastatic osseous disease.
I follow both male and female patients through 5 years of follow-up visits from breast cancer after completing breast conservation or mastectomy surgery with subsequent adjuvant chemo-radiation therapy.
I also care for colon cancer patients who receive Neoadjuvant chemo-radiotherapy and follow them for 5 years S/P radiation therapy.
I obtain and maintain documentation in the Electronic Medical Record for: Review of Systems, and Physical Assessments. I order blood work, urine pregnancy tests for women of childbearing age who are about to undergo radiation treatments, CT imaging, MRIs, PET/CT imagaing, ultrasounds and order Treatment Planning Simulation.
I provide referrals as needed to other specialty practices such as GI consultations, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nutritional Consultations, Social Services as well as ‘Hope and Life Foundation’ which is a charitable organization to help with financial assistance for those patients who are struggling with healthcare and other associated costs.
In the absence of the Radiation Oncologist, I have covered the department with the presence of a Locum Radiation Oncologist on the premises.
While working with the FLORIDA ONCOLOGY NETWORK within the Adventist Healthcare System, I covered the radiation oncology departments within 4 Hospitals to include:
Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center-Daytona/Ormond Beach

I was afforded the opportunity to attend the annual ASTRO conference held in San Diego, California in the fall of 2010 and again in San Francisco in the fall of 2014.
I have worked in radiation oncology in Central Florida as documented above and St. Louis, Missouri and Swansea, Illinois-(where I am currently employed) for about 8 years.
I have also served on staff as Adjunct faculty with Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri teaching within the BSN program of undergraduate nursing students to include both clinical instruction as well as lectures.

I am experienced in vaccine administration, history and physicals, EMR documentation, E-scribe and the clinic setting within the retail market caring for acute, episodic illnesses. I am happy to be able to offer affordable, easily assessable healthcare to the community in a convenient fashion to meet the healthcare needs of both adults as well as our pediatric patients. I also offer patient education with regards to maintaining optimal health so they may strive to personally improve their health and in turn improve the health of the community I live in as well.
Endoscopy Lab (GI Lab)-
I have experience in the Endoscopy Lab performing Upper Endoscopic Procedures, Colonoscopies, Esophageal Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography, Echocardiograms and Bronchoscopy Procedures have been very rewarding. These procedures screen for early detection of esophageal, stomach, colon, rectal, pancreatic, hepatic, and lung cancers.
