Received lectures in concepts and hands-on lab experience four weeks before students arrived
Spiked goat blood and urine with Ketamine, Cocaine, and Methamphetamine to prepare case samples for the students
Ran preliminary tests on the immunoassay (ELISA), extracted drugs from blood using LLE and SPE, and ran confirmatory tests on LCMS and GCMS
Taught, forensic toxicology, to 12 high school students in a 7-week program where three groups of four students work on three different cases. One week is spent in the classroom, covering the following topics: Lab Equipment and Instrumentation, LCMS, Forensic Toxicology, Calibration Curves, Extraction Techniques, ELISA, Headspace Analysis, Case Review, Effective Presentations and Intro to Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology. The next 6 weeks are spent running preliminary and confirmatory tests in the laboratory on evidence for each case.
