ACHIEVEMENTS AND COMMUNITY WORK
TEDxYouth
In 8th Grade, at the age of 13, I become the youngest ever speaker at TEDxYouth@Redmond 2021. My talk entitled ‘How to be Your Authentic Self in the Face of Adversity’ is available here: https://youtu.be/XFtUHI_-DOk
In 2022 and 2023 I was invited to join the organizing committee of TEDxYouth@SahleeRoad, where I helped organize and market the event, select participants, and coach speakers. I intend to remain on the committee throughout high school, helping the group of talented youth selected each year.
TYTAN
After volunteering during Grade 7 to be an informal counsellor in the Pacific North West’s most established gender diverse youth community organization, https://transfamilies.org/, I was invited to join their TYTAN (Trans Youth Taking Action Now) community leadership group. As a TYTAN, I have been given the opportunity to lead others who share my experience and impart the emotional and practical survival skills I have already learned. Despite being their youngest ever, TYTAN, I now routinely lead multiple community forms and online meetups, and coach other non-binary school kids of all ages. I intend to continue as a TYTAN throughout high school to help the LGBTQ+ community as much as possible.
SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS
Badminton
During both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, I successfully represented my school through my participation on the Badminton team. Lake Washington High School just finished the current season as the only undefeated badminton team in our district, and my doubles partner and I finished the season ranked 4th (out of 10 doubles teams) after starting this year unranked.
