Currently employed as a first grade teacher at an inner city private school in Minneapolis. I teach first grade. Throughout the year I am responsible for weekly lesson plans, implementing differentiated engaging lessons to meet the needs of my students, and parent teacher conferences. We do home visits every fall, parent involvement day twice a year coming alongside parents to help them to support their child at home and through this develop very strong relationships with our families. After years of part time teaching jobs while our children were growing up last year I stepped into multiple classroom settings fulltime at Redtail Ridge due to unexpected emergencies. I flexed between grade levels (4th, 3rd, and 5th) to keep each classroom growing and learning in their teacher's absence. Through personal connection with children the transitions went smoothly. Using my expertise I drew from what the students had already learned, the curriculum and district standards, and with the support of the grade level teams was able to keep each classroom on pace and learning at the high standard of learning that Prior Lake Schools provides.
