Subj: Robert D. Schultz Cover Letter & Resume
Re: As Per Our Conversation
Dear Reviewer:
My name is Robert D. Schultz I currently live in Sudan, Texas. I was born and raised in Cambridge, Ohio graduated from the University of Washington and have extensive experience as an administrator and environmental specialist as well as with permitting & fisheries issues. Accordingly, consequent to our conversation this date I am conveying the following.
Throughout my professional career my primary duties have entailed planning, synthesizing, organizing, coordinating, supervising and completing scientific projects and research relative to protection of the environment. Inherent in these pursuits is the responsibility to collect, process and present results vis-à-vis marine, estuarine & terrestrial development conflicts. Supplementary duties dictated I manage program personnel, create schedules, attend meetings, and serve as agency liaison, presenting validated results to wide-ranging interest groups as a Fish, Wildlife and Marine Biologist.
In order to efficiently conclude the above referenced duties, I authored or co-authored, scientific reports, publications, memoranda, letters, study plans, operational plans, memoranda of agreement, cruise plans, position papers, permit reviews, contract specifications, interagency agreements, program reviews, and special board of investigation documents. Similarly, I organized, chaired and co-chaired various scientific meetings, planning sessions, strategy sessions, training sessions, workshops, and symposia. Foremost among these was a United States/Canada Environmental Information Exchange Workshop held in Vancouver BC February 20, 1979.
In addition to stated professional experience listed on my resume I have been a Branch Chief, Project Leader, Area Wide Planner, Alaska Area Diving Officer, Researcher, Field Party Chief, Field Investigator, Permit Investigator, Interdisciplinary Team Leader, Coastal Zone & Project Manager. These duties entailed managing professional and other personnel in the context of defined economic, temporal and customary project constraints related to NEPA, ESA, Rivers & Harbors Act, Clean Water Act, the Fish & Wildlife Coordination Act the Coastal Zone Management Act and many, many, other congressional authorities. Please note throughout the duration of my professional experience I have in one way, or another been involved in protecting the environment from mismanagement of our nation’s waterways concerning fish & wildlife species and their habitat! Specific examples relate to personal research completed i.e., note citations under “Publications” on my resume!
Consequently, given my ability in English and Spanish in concert with my multicultural exposure by virtue of my experience with NMFS, the USFWS, the BIA and the Christian University on San Andres Island in Colombia South America as well as my service in the United States Coast Guard in conjunction with diverse geographical exposure nationally as well as internationally it is logical to conclude the following. I have wide employment experience in several scientific positions at varied hierarchical stages in different geographical locations. Therefore, I have had to be highly organized and able to effectively communicate in a bi-lingual context on a myriad number of levels to different peoples across a broad spectrum of subject matter. This capacity has allowed me to establish long-term professional and personal relationships with team members, colleagues and friends! Additionally, my considerable personal experience has exacerbated my normally outgoing, albeit it organized personality.
Moreover, to reiterate I wish to emphasize my professional experience is multidimensional in that in addition to my familiarity with fisheries, water quality & marine ecological issues in general, I also have extensive experience as an environmental specialist. Consequently, I am intimately conversant with biodiversity issues as related to habitat requirements from a marine, estuarine, freshwater and terrestrial perspective. Therefore, I offer my overall professional experience for your evaluation of my credentials in consonance with that which the Tribe may seek.
