I work on a neurological step-down unit taking care of stroke patients and patients post-spinal surgery. Patient load includes 5-6 patients per shift and managing pain medications, Complete neurological assessments, monitoring vital signs and for complications, coordinating complete care, discharge planning, education, and relaying needed information on to the attending physicians.

As nurse support staff, I would take patient vitals, coordinate hygiene, relay critical information on to the primary nurse. I worked autonomously but was delegated tasks by the primary RNs. EDUCATION
