Saint Luke’s- Roosevelt Hospital Center, New York Obesity Research Center, Columbia University New York City
Research Fellowship 07/2006-06/2008
Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program
Wrote the institutional review board protocol, recruited and coordinated the study Volunteers.
Learned to independently perform hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamps with glycerol infusion and aerobic capacity measurements.
Analyzed and published data:
o Zidovudine-to–tenofovir switch improved the following parameters:
adipose tissue distribution in the subcutaneous limb compartment.
increased lactate metabolism, likely by increased peak power output and the-to-peak exercise capacity. o Skeletal muscle was not affected, suggesting that tenofovir may be associated with long-term improvements of myocardial mitochondrial dysfunction.
Saint Luke’s - Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University New York City Gastroenterology Fellowship 07/2003-06/2006
Mount Sinai Medical Center, Icahn School of Medicine New York City Division of Liver Diseases; Hepatology training 01/2005-06/2005

Independently performed homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and body composition measurements.
Established an association between anti-inflammatory therapy and HOMA-IR improvement, in the absence of body composition changes in HIV-infected individuals with lipodystrophy.
