Mechanical Design Engineer – Test handling, and back end automation solutions for the semiconductor industry

Create Models, Assemblies, and Drawings to manufacture, and repair testing equipment used for strip style semiconductors. There are many product specific components that need to be designed per the customer product. Design/Engineering work was mainly completed in Minneapolis office, and manufacturing/assembly happened in Penang, Malaysia. I worked mainly from a home office, and checked in to the office in Minneapolis once/week or so, depending on the complexity of the project. We had weekly meetings in the evenings to discuss pertinent projects, and any issues the crew in Penang was eencountering.

This position is ending on 4/30 due to ownership changes.

Mechanical Designer – Ultrasonic Scanning Equipment, for inspection

Create Models, Assemblies, and Drawings to manufacture scanning equipment for ultrasonic inspection of a given customers specified equipment. This involved many application specific parts. I am also working on a robot that will be used to scan equipment as well. Along with the Design part of the job, I am also involved in the assembly of equipment, and quick-turn manufacturing of needed machined parts in the machine shop.

GEA Process Engineering Inc. (Contract), Hudson, Wi. February 2017-April 2018

Mechanical Designer – Fluid Processing Equipment

I was hired initially to work in the fluid processing equipment design group. Worked on a project to re-route a rooftop vent to run through a demister to remove remnant product moisture from the exhaust. It was a “warranty” project, so there were multiple supervisors involved to be sure it was fixed. Designed SS weldments for support framing, and SS sheet metal for the stack reroute housing, and demister assembly. Now working on the evaporator section of a “to be constructed” Protein powder plant. I am in one of the 5 groups working on this project.

Daikin Applied Inc., Plymouth, MN. September 2016–February 2017

Sr. Mechanical Designer – HVAC Rooftop Units

Create, and virtually test (Solidworks Flow Analysis) rooftop cabinet designs using Solidworks. Working in the new equipment development team, designing the next generation of equipment for the company.

Loftech Prototype Mfg., Vadnais Heights, MN. November 2013 –May 2016 Mechanical Designer/Engineer – Capital equipment, Assembly Fixtures

Create Conceptual models, assemblies, and detail drawings in Solidworks to manufacture custom fixtures, and machines for contracted companies. I personally worked on many assembly machines, and fixtures for motorsports, and medical device companies. Using Solidworks FEA analysis, I modified the way the company was typically designing their press operation machines. One of the common customers allowed us remote access to their Windchill PDM system to Check-out, modify, and Check-in with an updated REV level.
