As a qualified and experienced power engineer I offer to you a long-term employee with a wealth of experience as a both power engineer, Welder, and Loader & Backhoe operator. Recently I was also trained on Haul Trucks with Nort American, and Flint, was signed off on Cat models 797’s down to Cat 777’s.

Through this program I was introduced to a career in Power Engineering and was given a hands on and technical working knowledge of equipment, pressure vessels, burners, and pumps.

Nova Scotia Community College: Welding C Diploma 1996-1998

I was trained in the use of stick and MiG welding, as well as the basic principles and industry standards of welding.

I was also trained in the use of acetylene torches as well as plasma and carbon cutting.

St. Francis Xavier University 1985-1989

Graduated with Bachelor of Arts in Political Science as well as several business courses.

Work History

Syncrude (Oct 2022 to Dec 2022)

Here I learned about their Off Gas boilers and Precipitators Unit, down stream of the Cokes. I did rounds and readings (Teletrac reporting) and participated in isolations. Also the process they used in permit issuing,

North American (Nov 2021 to end of Dec 2021)

I learned to operate Haul Trucks in a Mine Environment thru there new drivers’ program. The models I was signed off on were the CAT models 785C, 789C & 789F.

Clear Stream (Oct 2020 – Present as a call in)

April through September 2022 I operated a 797 haul truck in the Aurora mine.

Currently employed as a Water Treatment Operator. Duties include recording differential pressures, flow rates, tank levels, replacement of filter bags, backwash of clay filter, and adjusting equipment as required to maintain proper operation.

Syncrude (June – August 2019)

While at Syncrude, I did rounds and readings, collected samples, I did control room directed process changes such as adding burners to their hydrogen furnaces, and made other field adjustments and changes. Participated in isolations, and clean up of post, when work was completed.

Kearl Oil Sands (Feb – May 2019)

I worked in Tailings and learned about their water recycling process and computer-based training and permit system.

Japan Canada Oil Sands (Mar 2010 – June 2018)

Responsible for performing the duties of a field operator in the steam plant. This job afforded me an opportunity to acquire experience in the adjustment of chemical pumps, line flushing, complimented by regular reading, sampling, and water testing. I regularly worked alongside other operators, issuing permits, isolation work, bump testing, and WAC regenerations. I performing these tasks using the best work practice as per industry standard.

Other duties included, well monitoring/maintenance, gas testing, and operating compressors glycol boilers and compressors.

Albian Sands (2008 - 2009)

As a field operator I performed regular mechanical adjustments, instrument blow downs, and gathered regular, scheduled samples.

My daily routine complimented my technical training by letting me apply real world experiences to my training in areas such as leak checks, line tracing, and hanging isolations. Duties also included: Permit issuing, Safety procedure enforcement, and trouble shooting in field problems.

Almac Machine Works Ltd. (2007 - 2008)

Sub arc Welder welding certified pressure vessels in the construction of vac trucks.

Trenton Works (1998 - 2005)

My tasks ranged from welding duties, operation of hand and overhead cranes, and construction of rail cars.

England Paving (1994 – 1998)

Loader operator, feeding the plant was my primary position. We did daily checks on the Asphalt Plant and equipment. Other tasks included maintance of equipment and collected ground water samples for the Dept of Environment.
