Gross anatomy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and bone mineral densitometry of the ovine Metacarpo / Metatarsophalangeal joint
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36282097/
October 2022
This study aimed to create an anatomical atlas of the ovine metacarpo/metatarsophalangeal joint using CT and MRI scans. BMD and morphometric features were also investigated. The results showed differences in BMD and morphometric features between limbs and suggested that the forelimbs have a larger volume of proximal sesamoid bones and a wider medial head, implying that the center of gravity is closer to the forelimbs. The findings may be useful for clinical techniques on this joint. Anatomy of the Tarsometatarsal Region and Digits in the Ostrich ( Struthio Camelus): A Computed Tomography and Cross-Sectional Study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32702953/
July 2020
The study provides a reference atlas of computed tomography (CT) and cross-sectional anatomy of the tarsometatarsal region and digits of ostriches. The study used 25 frozen ostriches and compared the CT images with corresponding cross sections to identify and label bones, ligaments, and tendons. The results provide a reference for evaluating CT images of the ostrich's tarsometatarsal region and digits, as well as determining musculoskeletal disorders affecting the lower leg in this species.
