• Create machine learning models, Naive Bayesian model, decision trees, cluster models, k-nearest neighbors and others to look for cost savings within the business as addressed by senior management.

• Create models in R, Python and SSAS to help make business decisions, based on historical claim and payment information.

• Pull claim data using SQL and work with SSIS as well as build Tableau reports for visualization and analysis to help look for pain points and performance.

Data Analyst Contractor (6 month contract), Optum, Indianapolis, IN, September 2015 - May 2016

Working with Medicaid claims to create reports and develop better analysis

• Created ad-hoc reporting for Medicaid claims reporting for the state.

• Worked in Teradata to create innovative, automated reports resulting in increased speed and decreased user errors.

• Created SQL code and Cognos reports within a Teradata environment.

• Hired as a subject matter expert on claims metrics and worked to help develop data marts. Led the analytics team to create additional insight on how Medicaid was being used.

Principal Data Analyst/Manager, SHIP/Fuzion,Indianapolis, IN, October 2011 - September 2015

SHIP/Fuzion is a long term care insurance company focused on policies and healthcare analytics

• Created predictive models including regression, neural networks and time series.

Worked with multiple clients, internal and external, as the representative of the data team. This involved gathering of requirements, making suggestions on additional analysis and models and looking for the best solution to visualize the results back to the clients.

• Functioned as the analytical lead in the development of a normalized database and a reporting level front end using star scheme dimensions. This included decisions on the type of datathat would be need for reporting, modeling and analysis.

• Develop a new reporting system and data structure using data dimensional modeling based on Ralph Kimball methods.

• Managed a team of 3-4 analysts in long term care claim analysis.

• Worked in SAS to create fraud models and evaluate fraud results. This included ranking models to assess the risk involved with each provider based on the claims history and medical expectations.

• Designed and developed new reporting tools and analysis to increase the understanding to the business and help improve decision and improve outcomes around medical claims fraud detection.

• Increased the use of automation and automation tools within multiple departments to increase the throughput and accuracy and reduce the human error. These tools were in MS Excel, MS Access and SQL.
