I am currently analyzing mitochondrial and neuronal area in sensory, motor, and interneurons found in C. elegans. Through this project we hope to understand how neurons of different function and neurotransmitter type regulate their consumption of energy and uncover the mechanisms involved in the regulation of mitochondrial size and density.
