A combination of repair/adjustment and gig work on audio/video and satellite equipment in customer homes and businesses; Church public address operation and maintenance, POS wiring. 2014 – 2021.

Planning and execution of the CEDIA award-winning Ayhar Home Theater in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Assembled and broke in the complete system in California before shipping to the site. Seven man crew, various trips to the install site. CEDIA Bronze Million Dollar Plus Category Winner, The Sound Center, 2015.

Company was in a growth phase. I went from simply completing the terminal wiring for their new HP3000 mainframe to managing all aspects of sales-oriented engineering for this chain of stores as it grew from four stores to ten stores throughout Southern California. If it made a picture or sound, it came through my department: TVs, Bigscreens, Loudspeakers, VCRs, the phone systems, alarm systems, even the house PA system, all were under my charge. I ran a crew of four as we built and enlarged TV and FM antenna systems, video displays, hands-on video camera demonstration displays and, of course, surround receivers.

For Adray’s (Consumer Electronics and Appliances) I built several 400-output TV antenna systems, surrounding the sizeable A/V floor areas of three new stores with TVs on 12-foot high pallet racks filled with working TVs. Each system also had a local modulated source. This system also supplied FM antenna signal to sixty A/V receivers. Crew of two men. 1995 – 1998.

Other Earlier Work:

1971 – 1979: Entered Audio Sales at Rogersound Labs (Audio Store). Responding to a need, I turned to technical work and designed, built, and maintained loudspeaker and amplifier product comparison equipment. Placed in charge of all store demo equipment as the company grew to four stores. Added responsibility for Mail Order Sales Shipping and Receiving.

1971 – 1974: With two partners, recorded live groups at The Whisky, The Troubadour, The Ash Grove, and other local venues in discrete four channel surround. And yes, we did B. B. King at Chino State Prison.

1979 – 1981: Marantz, Loudspeaker Engineering Assistant. Built and tested prototype drivers and systems and assisted QC Department in the on-site factory.

1981 – 1985: Califone International, Junior Engineer. Repaired (without documentation) and calibrated an ultra-large format camera for precision monochrome photoreductions; shot, etched, drilled all sample PC Boards for new product evaluation. Designed and built a prototype of a forty-student language lab controlling system.

SPECIALIZATIONS: Tracking down and solving problems, whether of demonstration equipment or of installed components. Enjoy sharing knowledge that I have gleaned from my investigative experiences. I love learning about new equipment and being able to make it work!

Proficient with safe use of hand and power tools, running cable, soldering, crimping, and compression of the large number of AV interfaces & connectors. Some experience with metal shop lathe, brake, band saw, and Bridgeport Mill.
