Letters of Reference
To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Brian Ferguson, and I am a veteran character animator, and animation instructor. I worked at Disney Animation Studios for 23 years, animating on such films as Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, Mulan, Emperor’s New Groove, Bolt, Princes & The Frog, among others. I taught Animation at Cal Arts for 2 years, and then moved on to teach Animation at DePaul University in Chicago.
I am writing this letter to recommend Elyse Dover, who has been one of the best students I have ever taught. She was my student in several classes. Her work has consistently been superior, both in technical quality and creative effort, yet she has always carried a teachable attitude. Her work ethic is top notch, as she is consistently on time meeting deadlines. If I were building a team, or supplementing one, I would include Elyse without hesitation. I have every confidence that she would work very well with others. If you have any questions or would like to further discuss Elyse Dover with me, please feel free to email or text me. Besides all this, may you have a splendid day!
Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern,
It is my pleasure to give my recommendation for Elyse Dover for your consideration. While her demo reel and portfolio will obviously give the best indication of how well her work is suited for your current needs, I feel confident shedding light on the nature of her character and work ethic. I have gotten to know Elyse very well in the past two years that she attended DePaul University’s Master’s animation program. During this time, I was her teacher for an advanced character animation course as well as a collaborative film production course. I also periodically served as her advisor. During the two years I worked with Elyse, I found her to be an impressively fast worker with a superb work ethic. She is consistent, a fast learner, and takes direction very well. In the collaborative film course she took with me, she was assigned to a team of four students. With the exception of Elyse, all the students had had limited experience animating. Elyse ambitiously took on doing all the animation for the film, letting the other students take on jobs as editor, sound designer, background painter, etc. I thought this was unrealistic at best considering the scope of the project, and at the very least overly ambitious. Elyse however assured me that she could do what was necessary to get the job done. She was right. Over the period of eleven weeks, Elyse completed all the character animation for the group’s entire film while other groups with multiple animators struggled to make their deadlines. She was able to do all this while maintaining the quality of the work. She was also able to smoothly navigate disputes that arose during some of the more intense parts of the production. I have never witnessed Elyse being anything else than level-headed. Her work over the course of this production was exemplary, and is a direct reflection of her character during the two years I worked with her. I have full confidence that Elyse has what it takes to perform in a fast-paced production environment. I highly recommend her for your consideration. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any Sincerely,
