Work Experience
Helping Hands Direct Care Staff March 2022-Present Helping Hands is a level 1 facility for children in the foster care system. We work exclusively with teenagers. There are teen moms as well but they are in charge of their own babies. We help them out when needed, if they are feeling overwhelmed or need advice. The teen moms will be in school or working, which is when we as staff care for the baby. I work third shift. During the week the teenagers will be in their rooms when I arrive, excepting holidays or school vacations. I provide support and a listening ear. Sometimes I pass medications. I have to enforce agency policies and provide structure for the children. I help with cleaning overnight. My supervisor has me help him with checking the files to make sure that the papers are being filed correctly and that all the necessary paperwork is in place. I file papers nightly. Get the girls up in the morning so that they will be ready for school. During the summer the children go on trips which I have volunteered to help with.
All Ways Caring Home Care Office Work Feb. 2019-January 2021 I help out in the office. I answer the phones and file time sheets and important papers in the clients’ files. I make calls to other caregivers. I help cover the office when there is a meeting or the others have gone out to lunch. I am on hand if the supervisors or the manager needs anything. All Ways Caring Home Care Direct Care Professional Dec 2017-Present I go into people’s homes to help them. I do anything from housekeeping to personal care. I transport clients to and from appointments or errands. Sometimes it is as a companion to give caregiver relief. Worked with clients as young as 9 years old and as with clients in their 90’s. Some are bedridden while others are ambulatory and just need guidance.
Private Home Care Feb 2017- Nov. 2017
I took care of an 82 yr old man with dementia. He had to be reminded to change into clean clothes. I cooked and cleaned for him. Occasionally I would take him to the doctor or on an outing. I filled his pill strip weekly and gave him his medications twice a day as well as take his blood sugar nightly. For awhile he was on insulin which I gave nightly.
Eastern State Hospital Recovery Support Specialist II March 2015- Dec 2015 Help the patients with their recovery. Listen and give advice as necessary. There were daily and weekly reports to be written. I would bring them to their groups/classes. Escort them on grounds and out in the community. Sit in on weekly treatment team meetings and email information from those meetings to the rest of the staff on that unit so that all would be up to date on treatments for the patients.
