After graduating UCLA, I worked for a few years for an environmental planning company doing environmental impact reports. I was disappointed with this field and in 1986 I started a stone fabrication company with friends from school. I have been self-employed since then. Here is a list of what I have done, most recent first.

Judgment Enforcement 2010 - current

I work for myself with no employees assisting judgment creditors in enforcing judgments. This involves selling my services, preparing contract and assignment documents, skip tracing to locate debtors, researching their assets, creating a collection plan, preparing all the legal documents for the court and sheriff to seize assets and often negotiating settlements with the debtors. Changes in the law regarding increasing debtor exemptions has made this business less profitable in the last few years, so I am looking for additional work.

Aquarium Center 1992 – 2010

I owned an aquarium store in Sherman Oaks on Ventura Blvd. Annual sales were about 1.9 million. We sold tropical fish and reptiles, and we serviced people’s aquariums. There were about 20 employees at any one time. My duties involved everything a small business owner does including hiring and training staff, marketing and promotion, ordering supplies, sales, managing financials, etc. The landlord felt an aquarium store was too damaging to their property so they did not renew the lease in 2008. I closed the store and just kept the service company which I sold in 2010.

Medici Marble and Granite 1986 – 1992

With a friend from UCLA, I opened a stone fabrication company. Our work was both residential and commercial, fabricating and installing marble and granite products for counters, walls, floors, etc. Our shop was 16,000 square feet and there were about 50 employees at any one time. Annual sales were about 4.5 million. I sold my interest in 1992 in order to pursue other opportunities.
