UCSD Medical Center - Insurance Authorization Coordinator/Patient Access

November 2008 - Present: UC San Diego Health - San Diego, CA

Responsibilities Include:

Obtain authorizations for procedures from various insurance companies.

Verifying eligibility via EPIC RTE and various health plan websites and/or calling the health plan.

Verifying all benefits and informing the patient of any out of pocket and/or liability cost to them for scheduled procedure/admission.

Updating Epic/Cadence with all pertinent billing and registration information so that the billing department can process a clean claim seamlessly.

Vase knowledge procedure codes (ICD10’s & CPT codes) that will take place for the patient.

Utilizing the tools EPIC has such as the R.T.A. (real time authorizations) add-on for auth submissions

Checking patients in for both out surgeries and admissions. Various administrative duties in the front office of admissions along with collections co-pays and payments.

Clinic/Procedure Scheduler, Insurance Coordinator, and Front Desk Support

Schedule clinic appointments and procedures done by our Physicians.

Verifying eligibility via internet and/or calling the health plan.

Preparing and arranging daily schedules to make sure clinic is full and the doctor’s time is productive.
