Notes
- The number of stitches you should have at the end of each row is the exact number of chains you began with in
your foundation chain row and is represented by - This Ear Warmer Headband pattern uses the Double Strand method (two strands of yarn held together and worked
throughout)
- This pattern is based on individual measurements.
Pattern
Ear Warmer Headband – Use Double Strands of Green and larger hook
Measure the circumference of the head you are making the Ear Warmer for.
Holding BOTH strands of Green together, make a slip knot.
Chain a length that is a few chains shorter than this measurement (when laid against your measuring tape). If you
stretch your foundation chain row, it should easily reach your target measurement. Remember, your work is going
to stretch a bit! It’s best to err on the side of too few stitches than too many.
Count your chains and make note of this number. It will be represented by at the end of each row.
Join your first and last chains with a slip stitch to form a large circle. Try this circle on over the head you are
making it for. It should fit comfortably. If it is too tight, you need to add a few chains to your foundation chain row.
If it is too loose, you must remove some chains.

R1: ch 1, sc into the same ch as joining, sc in each ch around . Do not join with a slip stitch
R2 – R?: sc into the next stitch and into each st around. Pattern is worked in the round without joining rows. Work
each row in sc until the piece measure approximately 7.5cm (3”). If you are making this for a small child, 6 cm
(2.5”) is acceptable. At the end of your last row, slip stitch into the next stitch and fasten off in line with the original
circle joining (easily recognized by the short tails hanging from your slip knot).
Border Rows: with a single strand of Green and your 5.5mm hook, sc into each stitch around the top and bottom
rows. If you feel your Ear Warmer is a little loose, you can use a smaller hook (size 5.00mm) for these rows OR you
can decrease 4 times evenly throughout both rows (sc2tog at each quarter point around).
