IT Mainframe, Production Control and File Transfer.

MAINFRAME

Cover maintenance shift on Saturday nights performing IPL’s on KSC and STL mainframe systems. Work with STL peers and TSVS to coordinate IPL times and perform necessary procedures/follow spreadsheets for the particular systems for that weekend.

Also work with vendors – creating tickets for access to the buildings in either KSC or STL and escorting vendors in/out of the building and computer room if needed.

PC/OPS

Work in OCC (operation control center) monitoring mainframe consoles for outstanding messages and outages. Monitor mainframe OPC, ISPF and connect direct.

Also monitor TWS (IBM workload Distributed scheduling system) for abended jobs and sending pages to proper teams for abended jobs on both systems TWS and OPC.

File Transfer – Monitor for failed file transfers, bulk files. Decide if these can be retransmitted and /or if the site is down on customer side. If file is a Critical Bulk and is not processed, find proper details of why it hasn’t been processed, these are time sensitive. Usually a job that has abended on OPC or TWC and /or the jobs are running behind because of an earlier abend. Answer emails about files and keep customers updated on files that have not been transferred and why.

I have also covered other shifts needing assistance with vacations and illness leaving a short staffed shift.
