• Leadership and Teamwork

- Spearheaded a team of 4 to implement the backend of a health insurance platform using Flask in Python3.7 and SQLAlchemy as the ORM to connect databases PostgreSQL and Oracle, by designing insurance-related APIs, conducting system integration, and collaborating with other departments (FE, PM, QA, and SRE)

• Database Schema Design

- Designed a flexible database schema to support three companies’ member management systems, each with unique login/registration functional requirements, and used ORM SQLAlchemy to connect databases: PostgreSQL, Oracle and SQL Server

- Optimized the API performance by denormalization, index, and cache to reduce latency by 90%

• System Integration

- Introduced RabbitMQ as a message queue to establish an asynchronous execution mechanism for sending emails and text messages in the background, shortening the average waiting time by 32% to enhance user experiences

- Applied Two-phase commit protocol on a payment mechanism to improve the reliability of data exchange between payment gateway (Stripe) and digital insurance platforms

-Studied arrhythmias with a focus on atrial fibrillation, premature atrial contractions, and premature ventricular contractions, implemented the detection algorithms, and built gradient-boosted decision trees with LightGBM to enhance classification performance; Calculated implemented detectors’ classification performance (confusion matrix) with PhysioNet Databases
