Dear Hiring Manager:

I read this study, conducted by Princeton, and it claims that it only takes a tenth of a second to form an opinion on someone. Underestimation is a powerful thing; I would be lying if I said it wasn’t the driving factor behind my success in the workplace. Allow me to formally introduce myself; my name is Zach. I am outgoing, hardworking, and tenacious - but most importantly I carry myself with respect, integrity and believe in doing the right thing even when it proves the most difficult. I come equipped with an Active Secret Clearance.

I am - and always will be - a Navy Submariner Engineer; every pivotal decision I have made over the last 10 years would eventualize in the man I am today. I have a natural inclination to submerge myself - pun intended - into every task put before me; I want to understand the totality of a system and will jump head first into attaining that knowledge. Anything from learning how to interpret schematics to quality assurance and following procedures. The safety of me and my fellow comrades was of the utmost importance. Every undertaking on-board was brimming with tension and was nothing short of high risk; my attention to detail had to be flawless, my quality assurance unparalleled and my ability to adapt, unsullied. Considering my crew and I are still alive… I like to call it a win.

I am thankful and humbled to say that I come highly recommended by each sailor that worked with me. I look forward to becoming an esteemed colleague to an incredible company, such as the one I am applying to. My resume is attached and am available for interviews at any time. Thank you for your time and consideration and look forward to talking with you at 407-***-****.
