MTI Northern Foundry supplies castings for the automotive industry. I am in charge of the safety and work quality of two millwrights. I work a 12 hour rotating shift. This facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I make sure the millwrights I supervise are doing their job safely and professionally and are supplied with the parts they need to complete the job to automotive industry standards and certifications. I am in charge of getting quotes on parts from several different vendors and staying within a budget while ensuring we receive the parts in a timely manner. I am in close contact with all vendors through email, telephone and with many of them, in person. Supervisors are also in charge of monthly safety meetings, safety inspections of the plant and grounds and writing reports on findings and implementing corrective actions. Maintenance Mechanic

On the job education and training since beginning this job: Safety welding; some examples are handrails, stainless steel and 7018. Train Trainer; man lifts, GLG, scissor lifts. Laser Alignment; GO2 and GO Pro, laser aligner. First Responder. Fall protection. 20 hour training course on a pit haul truck at the Babbitt facility 2008. MSHA training.
