The Department welcomes family visits during
visitation hours. Please make sure to bring
identification with you when you come to the facility. Authorized visitors may include mother, father, legal guardians, grandparents, stepparents, siblings,
stepsiblings, children of youth, and any other
administratively approved persons. If you have
any questions about visitation, please contact the facility case manager.

Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center (BCJJC)
The Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center is an all-male detention center run by the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services and is located in Baltimore City.
Youth are held here while they await their court date or placement.
Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center can serve up to 120 youth and primarily holds male youth from Baltimore City.
All staff are trained in trauma-informed care.
The Maryland State Department of Education provides accredited education in which youth will receive credit that can be transferred to their home school.
Students are provided year-round education and spend six hours a day in the classroom. Serv-Safe is offered at all DJS facilities by MSDE.
Eligible youth may obtain their GED or Advanced Studies such as college courses.

THE DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE SERVICES HAS A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OR SEXUAL HARASSMENT OF YOUTH. IF YOU SUSPECT OR HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF A YOUTH BEING SEXUALLY ABUSED OR SEXUALLY HARASSED BY EITHER A STAFF MEMBER OR ANOTHER YOUTH PLEASE CONTACT THE OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL AT 855-***-****. All youth receive a behavioral health screening when they enter the facility. Available services are provided by certified or licensed clinicians:
Crisis counseling
Psychoeducation
Evaluations
Services for survivors of
human trafficking
Medication management
Substance use education
All youth receive a health assessment when they enter the facility.
The facility has on-site around the clock nursing staff to meet the medical needs of each youth. Additionally, there is an on-call physician and a designated hospital emergency contact.
Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center has an on-site dental clinic to address any dental needs a youth may have.
The Department partners with community organizations, churches, and civic organizations to provide programing for youth at the facility. Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center provides youth the opportunity to participate in:
