This was achieved according to knowledge of current safety standards, established underwriting guidelines, and governmental regulations. Utilized experience and technical expertise to survey large or complex operations as requested by Operations. Prepare timely written reports and correspondence of findings and recommendations for risk improvement.

DHL SUPPLY CHAIN, REMOTE WEST REGION – REGIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER

NOVEMBER 2005 – APRIL 2018

Visit site locations on designated listing (55+ warehouses) across region (California, OR, WA, NV, CO, AZ)

Maintained positive relationship with Division Managers, Directors, VP’s and above to properly communicate those areas or locations in the higher risk areas of the organization to ensure the company was meeting or exceeding all Federal, State, Local, and Client compliance requirements.

Spent a lot of time in the field at several locations that were coined the “critical few” because they had various issues that were impacting the lack of employees practicing safe work protocols.

Managed two direct reports, Campus HSE Supervisors. They covered sites located in Utah & Wyoming.

Conduct site regulatory inspections & audits. Reporting any non-compliance with site leadership & corporate leadership.

Incident Management including Claims

Extensive knowledge of Fed & CalOSHA regulations (General Industry, Construction)

Trained employees on how to complete all safety reports and I also maintained regular documentation for all training, incident reports, root causation, compliance audits, monthly site inspections, action plans, safety team meetings, etc.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Created and helped to maintain “National Safety Team” for Retail Sector of DHL Supply North America. Stayed with them as a Sponsor of program for over 2 years until they could continue to maintain ongoing Safety progress within their respective locations

Spearheaded Early Return to Work Program with Key Stakeholders of North America Corporate actively participating to successfully get injured employees properly medically treated and fully back to work. This dramatically reduced TRIR, LTIR, Claims dollars, and Work Comp Insurance premiums by each state.

Found local Mobile Medical Services through AMR – Ambulance Service. This program could be as simple or detailed as each location wanted or needed it to be. The idea was to assist in getting employees treatment in a timely manner at the site in a non-invasive private way. In most cases the EMT determined the cases to be first aid & would send them back to work immediately or the following day. This dramatically reduced the number of recordable injuries that were occurring. It also eliminated the cost of a claim which has a complete domino effect on a business. The cost was $270 per incident but the employee would receive 5 follow-up visits by the mobile unit at no extra cost. It was a win-win.
