As the President/C.E.O of a medium scale construction/painting firm, I was solely responsible for overseeing all work as well as obtaining work contracts. Over the years, we procured and maintained many such commercial accounts such as : Denny's Restaurant Corp. : Jiffy Lube Inc. Fermi lab Department of Energy. : University of Illinois Chicago, and numerous other large scale commercial and residential accounts. Because of my ability to obtain multiple and substantial contracts, the corporation had grown from a few employees to a multitude of laborers. A far cry from the fledgling company that I created in March of 1986, working alone sometimes 70-80 hours a week .I am familiar with all aspects of construction, whether first hand, or dealing with a multitude of sub contractors. Having worked as a home inspector for 10 years dictated the need for familiarity with both mechanical as well structural components. It was typical for us to be involved in every phase of a construction project from the demo, to the finish painting. I have been faced with meeting, and delivering jobs with seemingly unobtainable deadlines, commonly working 90 hours some weeks, as well as dealing with some of the most humorless and obstinate village/city inspectors, subcontractors, and employees, never once failing to complete a project on time .We frequently would work out of town, so travel is certainly not an issue. I enjoy the challenge of what is often a glamorized version of babysitting, as well as creating an upbeat, productive, and professional work atmosphere even in the most tumultuous settings. Sipes Quality Enterprises Inc., Naperville, Illinois A typical day would include: Arriving first at the job site, determining, coordinating and overseeing trades and tasks, meeting with clients, city or village inspectors, ordering and picking up materials, confirming upcoming trades and verifying schedules, and working along side co workers and sub contractors whenever the situation dictated.

Having performed the work that I ultimately bid gave me additional insight and allowed me to take various intangibles into consideration that many estimators may have overlooked.

This involved obtaining drawings and bidding on all aspects of each project utilizing various bidding software and mathematic formulas involving labor, square footage, materials, overhead and other related construction costs (permits, dumpsters, union/non union labor) and cross referencing them with outside subcontractors. This allowed me to create the most competitive bids and minimize the chances of under estimating any phase of each given project.

Because the work I was bidding on affected my bottom line, I had no room for error. Education
