I served as the first front-of-house manager of this on-campus, student-run cafe. I was an integral part of the planning team, along with a kitchen and business manager, under the supervision of PSU staff. Hired and fired, set schedules, served customers with joy. It was one of my great challenges in helping to bring this cafe to life under the supervision of an often-skeptical University management.

I served as the first front-of-the-house manager for this neighborhood brewpub and restaurant in Southeast Portland. I hired and fired, wrote schedules, and set a welcoming atmosphere to customers and staff. Among the challenges was that our indoor seating area was small and complemented by large outdoor seating areas, both covered and open, which required expanding and contracting the serving staff to meet seasonal demands.

I was the first staff member of this iconic Northwest Portland brewpub. I served customers with joy and solid service skills. I eventually became manager, which meant I hired and fired, set schedules, and created a great atmosphere for customers and staff members. I also created a Sunday-morning bluegrass jam, which filled our outdoor seating area during a time in which we otherwise were slow.

I was among the first staff members of this historic music venue. Even after all these years, I run into customers who remember me from that time. This busy concert hall often meant serving constantly during evening shows. Part of my job was working at a portable bar for major events. This involved setting up the bars and tearing down the bars themselves.
