Works collaboratively under the supervision of licensed physician and nursing staff providing advanced patient care, which includes assisting with patient care, planning and assessments,
Functions in collaboration with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Maternal Child Unit, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, Respiratory Services, Neurology Unit Psychiatric Unit, Telemetry, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Podiatry, Alternative Medicine (Pain), Newborn Nursery, Surgical procedures, Oncology and providing medical care to patients in all Med-Surge Units.
•Clinical tasks and/or procedures assisting the physician in providing comprehensive medical care in the clinical settings,
•Escort patients to exam rooms.
•Utilizing KP Health Connect (EPIC) Interview patient, measure vital signs, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, pain level and document all medical information in patient’s chart,
•Document all care given and actions taken on behalf of the patient.
•Keep examination and procedure rooms always cleaned and sttocked
•Collect specimens such as urine, blood ( screen blood glucose levels) and transport specimens to lab.
•Perform EKG’s, dry sterile dressing changes, treating body wounds.
•Schedule follow-up appointments
•Provide Outreach Services to patients in need of blood pressure checks, lab work, preventive pap smears, and mammograms.
•Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls,
•Provide information and instructions to patients as directed by the licensed physician and nursing staff.
•Immediately notifies physician or other licensed health care provider of patients observed to be in distress and/or crisis situations and potential medical emergencies.
•Facilitates smooth and efficient operation of the clinical department by monitoring the flow of patients and intervening as appropriate to minimize wait times and promote a positive experience for the patient.
