Dear Professor:

I am writing to apply for a data engineer position of Parker Hannifin Corporation on 2023 Summer Internship Program. I am the first-year master in the College of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in Data Analysis and Statistic. I have always been fascinated by using algorithm learning to deal with engineering problems. I am confident in my ability to contribute as a researcher with my technical knowledge, relevant project experience, and well-rounded skillset. As a motivated problem solver and diligent learner, I have developed proficiency in the areas of data analysis and modelling. During my undergraduate internship at China University of Geosciences, Wuhan (CUG), I successfully designed an intelligent face emotion recognition system with 4. I built the expression recognition model based on SVM algorithm, which involved normalized image preprocessing, expression features recognition and extraction, data training with 7 emotional types. Also, I worked with my classmates to finish GUI interface design with dynamic identification. Finally, I completed the recognition of expression feature on facial image by coding LBP and LPQ in MATLAB, which improve the accuracy of facial emotion recognition. During my undergraduate tutor’s project of wind power generation, I used BP neural network in Python combined with Genetic Algorithm (GA) for parameter optimization to construct a wind power prediction model. Eventually, my prediction model contributed to estimate wind power precisely, which mitigated the loss of wind power engineering under the extreme weather condition.

As an active member in work group, I have participated in an internship on Wuhan Hezhi Tiancheng Information Technology Co., Ltd. By using SQL, I collated data from different data sets and built data models, predicted the data, judged decisions, including analyzing the process of investment and rent underpayment rates, and conducted visual interact interface for vendor. With my colleagues, I maintained and updated the WeChat operation platform through sending vendors’ marketing schemes to their mini-programs. Through this, customers could quickly know the latest information of various products.
