I am writing on behalf of Suzanne Gardner regarding the upcoming position she is being considered for. Suzanne is a true believer of the credit program at Stein Mart and is a great team motivator. I had the pleasure of working directly with Suzanne as her supervisor at Stein Mart in Mission Viejo, CA from 2009-2012. I was the assistant store manager and had the opportunity to oversee multiple departments in the store, customer service. Suzanne started out her Stein Mart career as a part-time cashier and quickly became the highest credit card producer in the store. It was not too long before Suzanne would be getting 10, 20, 30 new accounts in one day! It truly was amazing to see. Suzanne helped motivate and empower the staff by teaching them all the benefits of the Credit Program, she created announcements to be projected over the loudspeaker to help inform the customers of all the benefits that came with opening a line of credit with us. Suzanne continued to rein the TOP of the credit charts in our store and quickly became the top producer for the entire district, eventually being the #1 producer in the company. Suzanne was promoted to Customer Service lead and was spearheading the Credit program in the store. She was the

“go-to” person for credit and credit questions. Suzanne helped train ALL new employees on the benefits of the credit program and help associates on their approach to the program. Suzanne also traveled to nearby stores with to help train, motivate and discuss the credit program with their team. But she was a rock star on credit acquisitions. Other neighboring stores wanted to take her away, but she continued to stay dedicated to the Mission Viejo Store. Suzanne helped the store reach the #1 spot in credit numerous times throughout the year and was one of the TOP Credit producers in the company during various months during my time at Mission Viejo. In December 2012, I was promoted to my own store and helped train my staff with what I learned and observed from Suzanne to help build a stronger focus on credit and customer service. There were multiple times when I gave examples of how Suzanne trained the employees and the way she would empower the team to do their best. Suzanne truly believed in the program and on occasions I would reach out to Suzanne for advice on certain training situations that would come up. In August 2014, I was promoted to a district director position and had an opportunity to open my first NEW store in my district. I could have reached out to anyone in the company to train the new team about the POS systems and the loyalty programs offered by Stein Mart. Of course, I wanted the best and lucky for me, the best was only a phone call away. I reached out to Suzanne and reached out to her store manager to have her come out and train my new team. She did an amazing job and helped the team open over 125 new accounts on their first day of operation. I believe Suzanne would do a fantastic job in any training or supervising position with the company.
