Technology Policy Analyst

Applied knowledge of Transportation planning practices along with recommendations and expertise to stakeholders and decision makers, external to the DOT through the development of the NAMA Multimodal Strategic Implementation Plan. The project was published in the National Transportation Library and was distributed to Federal partners at DDOT and WASO. The project will improve the visitor experience and save lives at some of the most iconic sites in the National Mall. FHWA has begun the design phase at a few of the project locations with a few more coming in the next few months.

I led a team of five colleagues to review and score the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant program. As a team lead, I am responsible for organizing, deploying, and managing resources within the defined project scope, quality, time, and cost constraints. I accomplish this by holding weekly team meetings, monitoring progress of team members, and maintaining a QA/QC process that aligns with the goals of senior leadership.

I use my skills in data analysis to organize, maintain, and establish a process to enhance the capabilities of state DOT’s adoption of digital construction monitoring technologies. I used my skills in Microsoft office to establish the framework for a database that paired DOTs with technologies that catered to the skills of their staff.

I analyze and interpret data to support the improvement of transportation planning and decision making, informing DOT policies, regulation, and programs through my work at the Bureau of Transportation Statistics Data Summit. I used my previous experience in Active Transportation to facilitate a breakout session at a conference which provided attendees a space to discuss best approaches to collecting, analyzing, and incorporating Bicycle data into transportation planning processes.

Digital iBiz – Cambridge, MA January 2020 – Present

Transportation Planner

Conducted interviews with MPOs from across the country in order to evaluate the Intelligent Transportation Systems Professional Capacity Building Program (ITS PCB). The project is still ongoing and the feedback received will be used to develop an internal report to analyze and evaluate the current programs and better tailor offerings from the PCB program to the needs of MPOs.

Performed research and analytical tasks to aid in building awareness about value captures techniques while also focusing on supporting implementation by state, local, and tribal governments.

Analyzed SPEND Plan Data from Federal Operating Administrations. Identified trends between projects and available funding and developed a presentation for OST-R staff.

Worked with a team of Transportation Planners to reimagine OST-R Biannual Research Review process. We were able to develop a new process that enhanced coordination, communication, and information sharing between the OAs and senior staff.

Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District (SRPEDD) – Taunton, MA June 2018 – January 2020 Transportation Planner

Performed research and analytical tasks to aid in the development of technical reports and planning documents to inform stakeholders, policy makers and regional partners on planning initiatives.

Led bi-monthly public outreach meetings for regional partners where I was responsible for taking meeting minutes, responding to technical questions and communicating the planning process to consumers.

Advanced and completed a stagnant Bus Stop Inventory project to help communities analyze bus stops in need of infrastructure improvements as well as provide recommendations for improvement.

Partnered with Transportation staff to complete a Fare Equity Analysis that provided a Regional Transit Agency with data needed to increase fares.

Developed a Demographic Analysis to provide a regional transit agency better understanding of at risk and underserved communities to then alter service to better serve these communities.

Developed a Public Outreach initiative that provided communities a more efficient way to provide feedback on the agency’s Regional Transportation Plan.

Capital Planning Group – Intern

Aided MassDOT Planners by attending weekly Priority of Projects meetings where I was tasked with taking detailed notes and presenting project updates to transportation managers.

Worked with regional MPO’s to develop project scenarios that would allow them to better facilitate projects for the 2019- 2023 Transportation Improvement Program.

Performed research and analytical tasks to generate a database of Freight Data that aided MassDOT staff in developing the State Freight Plan.
