Volunteer work
Costa Rica mission trips. I went to Costa Rica 5 consecutive years to do mission work at local churches. This included building, repairs, painting, bible school for the kids, etc. Our teams averaged 18 people. I led two of the trips which required organizational skills, direct communication with team members regarding their jobs and tasks, problem solving and working out of my comfort zone. Each trip was a unique experience and allowed for personal growth. Director of a Sack Lunch ministry at my church. This ministry involved providing individual sack lunches as well as a place for rest to the homeless. It grew from 5 lunches to over 40 per week in a short period of time. Organizer of a local PANDAS support group. My son was diagnosed with PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcus) when he was eleven years old. There was little awareness of the disorder in the medical community, schools, etc. I established a very good relationship with the director of PANDAS Network and was able to increase awareness of this disorder not only on a local level, but on a national level as well.
