Geologist / Occidental Petroleum Corporation, Houston, Texas

During my 4 years with Occidental Petroleum Corporation, I worked in two departments, Texas Delaware Reservoir Management Team and Operated By Others (Permian Basin).

AUGUST 2012 – MARCH 2015

Texas Delaware Reservoir Management Team

•Planned and acted as the Operations Geologist for Drilling vertical wells in the Delaware Mountain Group (Bell, Cherry and Brushy Canyon), a conventional reservoir in Northern Loving County and Middle Reeves County. The drilling and completion of these wells was successful.

•Reviewed existing wells for recompletion potential.

•Drilled horizontal wells in the Phantom Field (3rd Bone Spring Sand / Wolfcamp, a mixed reservoir thought to be self-sourcing from high Total Organic Carbon (TOC) shales) in western Loving County

•Working with the team Petrophysicist analyzed the new data and developed a plan, which was approved by management, to appraise a new target in the leases based on both the log data analysis and competitor data.

•As the Operations and Development Geologist, worked with Reservoir, Production, and Facility engineers to determine analogs for decline curve analysis, when artificial lift might be required, scope of the facilities (for both oil, gas and water handling) necessary.

•Worked with the regulatory coordinator and landmen to propose and permit production wells, salt water disposal wells and existing well conversions to disposal wells.

•Routinely tracked and performed surveillance of critical wells (last well on lease, wells holding depth rights) to determine the best course of action. Made recommendations based on this tracking and surveillance that were implemented resulting cost savings in capital and operational spending.

SEPTEMBER 2010 – AUGUST 2012

•Acted as the sole Geologist responsible for evaluating Drill and Equip (D&E) Authorizations for

Expenditures (AFE), Recompletion AFEs, and Plug and Abandon (P&A) AFEs submitted to Occidental Permian from Outside Operators

•Responsible for reviewing all Drill and Complete, Recomplete and Plug and Abandon AFEs from Operators that Occidental was partnered with for the entire Permian Basin, including New Mexico and West Texas (Approximately 3-5 AFEs per week).

•Performed the geological evaluation for each incoming AFE and made the decision on whether or not to participate in the AFE within 5 working days, as necessitated by management decision times and the 30 day time limit of the governing Joint Operating Agreement.

•As a team, presented evaluations to management along with recommendations for participation.

•If the decision was made to participate after my presentation to management, I would produce the written justification with the geologic evaluation for senior management approval.

•Scout maps were created using ArcGIS software by importing IHS and TRRC data to enable the company to gain an understanding of competitor activities (location, drilling, target depth, initial potential, cumulative production, and frac volumes). I compared this information and the produced maps to the AFE and completion reports supplied by the joint operators to help the company’s Permian team optimize our own drilling and completion procedures.

SEPTEMBER 2006 – AUGUST 2010

Geologist / Cano Petroleum, Inc, Fort Worth, Texas

•Geological well site supervision including: determination of the well TD by sample descriptions, rate of penetration (ROP), and lithostratigraphic correlations with nearby wells, Quality control of wire line electric logging runs for proper calibration of tools, log curves and well log header information. Correlation of log tops with nearby wells, and informing the company drilling supervisor, rig toolpusher and drilling crew of well TD. Quick look log evaluation for reporting to Senior Geologist of initial results and possible pay sections.

•In preparation for sale of non-core business fields, I produced geologic structure maps, pay section isochore maps, cross sections, and economic evaluations for these non-core business fields

•Performed the maintenance and updating to the Petra database, including adding data for newly drilled wells (Well name and location, TD depth, casing depths, perforation intervals, stimulation treatments) and made any changes needed for existing wells, log curves and lithostratigraphic tops to the database.

•Produced, created, and updated the maps, cross sections and drilling prognosis of core business areas in the Panhandle of Texas, and Chaves County, New Mexico.

•Determined the locations and drilling order for new production and re-development of the newly acquired fields Cato, Tom Tom and Tomahawk Fields in New Mexico. I analyzed well logs for determination of bypassed pay behind pipe for recompletions in the San Andres Fm. using .LAS files, and raster images of both open and cased hole logs.

•Created the new infield mapping using Petra for the Cato San Andres Unit in Chaves County.

Determined the reservoir compartmentalization from subsurface porosity and inferred permeability maps utilizing open and cased hole logs and production data for water flooding pattern determination.

•Worked with the engineering staff to determine best course of action in waterflooding the Cato San Andres Unit.

•Coordinated and worked with consulting engineering firm to create a detailed geological model of the Cato San Andres Unit to determine reserves and economics for continued development.

•Produced regional subsurface maps in Eddy, Lea, Roosevelt and Chaves County, New Mexico for prospect generation in the Queen, Wolfcamp, Morrow, and Devonian Light Cap

•Determined potential for exploration of deep and shallow plays within unit, discovered using 1960-1970’s vintage logs and production information within the Cato San Andres Unit in Chaves County.
