Electrical Engineer III
Developed electronic spreadsheets for quick sizing of generators, electrical load calculations, lighting requirements, voltage drop calculations for cable sizing, generator/compressor engine fuel consumption and other utility systems so as to request quotes on electrical equipment/material to submit for project proposals.
Developed electrical standards to assist in the installation of natural gas compression stations; natural gas/oil processing plants in domestic and international locations.
Developed standardized three-line generator control system design drawings.
Developed project concepts, specifications, design bids for new projects.
Develop low voltage to medium voltage switchgear and motor control centers specifications for proposals/projects, including one-lines.
Developed documents for support of projects including project scopes, presentation of conceptual designs, capital requests, specifications, project expenditures, project procedures, correspondence, start up procedures and cost estimates.
Responsible for all aspects of project implementation including achieving established technical goals, maintaining the approved budget and established project schedule.
Coordinate professional engineering services and provide customer-oriented service while ensuring the use of sound engineering practices and fiscal responsibility in the accomplishment of project activities.
Understands customer’s technical problems, recommends solutions to meet their needs, and ensures customer satisfaction. Product and technology focused, ensures the product functions per specifications.
Integrated Exterran products and services into the customer’s environment. Also ensures our system solution platform is functioning properly at the customer’s site.
Determine and develop approaches to system/application engineering service assignments, lead projects requiring coordination with other functions, customers and third parties.
Provided electrical engineering design and support for a new +$100MM natural gas processing plant in the Middle East.
Providing electrical engineering design and support for a new +$125MM Cryo plant.
Providing electrical engineering design and support for a new +$50MM gas compression station.
2003 – 2004 International Specialty Products, Texas City, Texas Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer
Support Plant Engineering and Maintenance activities.
Reduce maintenance costs, improve safety, and maximize production by identifying and eliminating poor performing instrument installations.
Provide troubleshooting and repair assistance to Instrument Technicians
Evaluate new instrument technologies to help resolve long term instrumentation and control problems.
Investigate equipment failures and issue change recommendations to eliminate further occurrences.
Monitor new instrument installations to ensure Engineering Standards are being adhere to.
Develop and issue installed cost estimates for instrument improvement projects so that equipment owners can make informed decisions. 2001 - 2002 Celanese Chemicals, Pasadena, Texas
Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer
Designed and implemented projects from $5,000-$60,000. Project scopes ranged from installing process transmitters to control valves to designing and implementing complex instrumentation schemes. Supported the following continuous process units: Ethylene Oxide/Ethylene Glycol, Carbon Monoxide, Vinyl Acetate, Methanol, and Utilities.
Conducted and participated on functional check out of Safety Instrumented Systems. Safety Instrumented Systems included component, DCS interface, and PLC controlled systems.
IMS (Integrated Management System) Area Coordinator. Prepared materials that outlined the organizational structure, planning of activities, responsibilities, work processes and resources needed for developing, implementing and maintaining EHSA policy.
Installed several custody transfer meters to improve accuracy in interdepartmental allocations. Reduced reconciliation error by 30 percent.
Troubleshoot existing flow transmitter(s) legs in steam lines from cogen plant supplying 750# steam to plant. Transmitter legs were not traced (could cause condensation in lines during cold weather that would of resulted in erroneous steam flow readings).
Troubleshoot electrical tracing circuits to tank farm. Required new installation of transformer, switchgear, and cable to support new tracing circuits.
Ongoing support to Six Sigma projects aimed at reducing costs and increasing efficiencies in the plant units.
Installed medium voltage equipment for electrical tracing of process equipment.
Troubleshoot a vessel that was rated at a low MAWP but was required to handle a larger pressure. Conducted a field experiment and coordinated with a mechanical engineer (P.E) to increase the stamped MAWP on vessel. Results increased the stamped MAWP by an order of magnitude and vessel was put into service with new instrumentation.
Designed and installed several combustible gas/oxygen deficiency monitors/sensors combination for five analyzer houses.
Provided instrumentation, control systems, and electrical design support for a new $3.5 million de-mineralized water treater project. Design included material, manpower, and indirect costs.
Increased reliability of several transmitters by replacing some with smart transmitters and removing others from vibrating platforms. Transmitters were reinstalled on non- vibrating instrument stands.
1999 - 2001 Celanese Chemicals, Bay City, Texas
Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer
Designed and implemented projects from $5,000-$30,000. Project scopes included installation of process meters/transmitters, pressure safety valve and control valve sizing. Supported the following continuous process units: Vinyl Acetate, and Butanol.
Installed custody transfer coriolis meter to provide accurate measurement of ethylene usage. Meter provided savings in the thousands of dollars.
Increased reliability of several valves by replacing existing valve plugs with differently shaped trims. This was also more cost effective than replacing entire valves.
Representative for Bay City plant to the quarterly alliance meeting between Flowserve and Celanese. Meetings addressed concerns/problems with valves and subsequent solutions.
Installed instrumentation on several vessels to prevent over-fill of equipment that would lead to an ESHA violation.
Troubleshoot the lack of instrument wire pairs/cable from marshalling panels to junction boxes in vinyl acetate unit. Increased funding on a small project and installed a 38 pair cable. This resulted in an increased capability for new instrumentation and was later utilized for major projects requiring new instrument installations.
Routinely downloaded software changes to TRICONEX (PLC) controlled Vinyl Acetate process unit when production rates changed.
Increased safety/reliability with updating one-line motor control center drawings. EDUCATION:
