Objective:

With my experience at Intel, aboard USS Hornet, and the positions I have had involving data entry I shall have no difficulty in being a Customer Service Representative for Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope in providing product and service information, resolving product and service problems, processing orders, and serving as an ambassador (customer advocate) between the customer and the company.

From 1995 to 1998 was one of the “historically minded citizens” who saved the historic aircraft carrier USS Hornet from the scrap heap.

From the time USS Hornet opened as a museum ship in 1998 to 2013 was a docent who led tours of the Island (Primary Flight Control, Navigation, Pilot House, Captain’s Bridge, Captain’s Sea Cabin, and Flag Bridge), Combat Information Center, and Radio Central.

Am currently the Public Relations Director of the De Anza Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society. Have served as the Newsletter Writer of the San Mateo Chapter, De Anza Chapter, and the Monterey Bay Chapter, and served as the Program Director of the Monterey Bay Chapter. Am an original member of the De Anza Chapter and served in all offices except for Treasurer, Membership, and Refreshments.

Wrote articles which have appeared in various publications including the Journal of the American Rhododendron Society, have taken photos which have appeared on various webpages

Would like to get a paying position doing what I do on a volunteer basis.

Education:

At HomeSide Lending, took a class in “Enhancing Customer Service Skills”. Took classes in computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and other programs at Intel and HomeSide Lending. At Intel, CENTURY 21 Alpha, HomeSide Lending, and Western States Oil Company used various computer programs for entering and researching data.

Completed Level One of Supervision and Management, and most of the classes of Level Two, as well as other business classes, such as in Public Relations and Human Resources at San Jose City College, Mission College, and West Valley College.

BA in Social Science from San Jose State University. Minor: Philosophy (Teaching Minor).

Am currently retired but due to the economy would like to obtain a full time job.

October, 1998 to September, 1999 HomeSide Lending Was a Data Entry Processor, at the San Jose office, which closed in December, 1999. Entered data from Loan Packages sent by other mortgage companies into the HomeSide computer system; and at times contacted the Brokers or Loan Processors of the loan companies in checking on the accuracy of the Loan Packages they sent to HomeSide in regards to the loan number and the type of product. Maintained a log, in Excel, of the brokers who in their packages sent over wrong or incomplete information. Office Manager: Janet Trumble. The operating assets of HomeSide Lending were sold to Washington Mutual in December, 2001.

Office Manager: George Collyer. The starting date was when I acquired my Real Estate License; for some months previously I was taking Real Estate classes at CENTURY 21 Alpha.

Spent most of the time at Intel in charge of Silicon Stores where I maintained an excellent inventory. Did 100% weekly cycle counts. While in charge of Silicon Stores operated a forklift. As a member of Logistics, I worked with buyers, planners expediters, schedulers, and trade show operators. Also worked in Storage and Shipping & Receiving. Operated a forklift. In Shipping and Receiving set up the outgoing Federal Express shipment indicators using Excel for tracking. Was a member of the Emergency Response Team. Supervisor: Charles Atkinson.

Am a longtime member of the American Rhododendron Society.

Was one of the original members of the De Anza Chapter. Have held the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, Newsletter Writer, and a member of the Board of Directors. Currently am in charge of Public Relations.

Served as the Secretary, Newsletter Writer, Public Relations Director, and Program Chairman of the Monterey Bay Chapter.

Wrote articles for the Journal of the American Rhododendron Society.

For many of the years I have been a member of the American Rhododendron Society. Have conducted programs ranging from showing slides of various gardens to conducting programs on how to make plants from cuttings.

Plants grown from cutting material and / or seed I obtained in the wild are being grown by the San Francisco Botanical Garden, Rhododendron Species Foundation, and Hidden Forest Nursery.
