UTMB/TDCJ MANAGED CARE

Correctional Clinical Associate - 2013 to Present

Utilize TDCJ mainframe system, utilize the electronic medical records system, referrals processing, update PULHES/restrictions/codes, process sick call request, create/close reminders, data conversion of patient medical records, register/discharge patients, schedule/present DMS appointments, schedule/present discharge planning patients, supervise offender janitor, reconcile maintenance work orders, coordinate transfers of high security patients for appointments, records reviews, release of information, medical supply/inventory, issue glasses to patients, process biohazard waste, inventory/restock first aid boxes, file dental X-rays, print expiring medications report, coordinate medical transfers, monthly statistical reports, UTMB-CMC new employee orientation trainer, UTMB-CMC agency nurse trainer, trained on Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), and other duties as assigned.

Transcribes handwritten and electronically generated medication orders, Distributes & documents offender medications from filled prescriptions, orders stock / non formulary / narcotic meds to ensure adequate supplies. Ensures expired medications are prepared and returned to the Central Pharmacy. Maintain cleanliness in the work area, compliance for refrigerator temperature logs documentation. Perform narcotic counts at the beginning and the end of every shift. Watch for adverse / side effects, assists with visual acuity tests, maintains current certification, utilize TDCJ mainframe system, utilize the electronic medical records, UTMB-CMC new employee orientation trainer and on the job trainer, and other duties assigned by charge or nurse manager.
