Reviewed main space fire doctrines to ensure ships were in compliance. Assured all vessels followed Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards pertaining to the Code of Federal Regulations. Conducted mandated training and health risk assessments for all Coast Guard cutters in the 5th, 7th, and 9th District. Ensured the availability of critical fleet by reducing a large number of safety discrepancies. •Damage Controlman responsible for maintaining and Building Aid to Navigation on the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding tributaries. Area of responsibility extended from Upper Chesapeake Bay down to Savannah Ga. Supervised and operated the construction deck which includes, operating a 60 foot crane with pile driving rig attached. Managed a10 man crew to Constructed two hundred and fifty lighted and non-lighted structures not including ten sets of range lights.

1996-1993 U. S. Coast Guard Cutter Bear, WMEC-901, Portsmouth, VA.

•Damage Control supervisor responsible for 3 crewmembers and all damage control equipment, maintenance and upkeep of Preventive Maintenance Systems. Maintained Compartment Check-Off List and made entries into the Hull and Machine History Logs. Qualified as an Engineering Watch Officer and Flight Deck Fire Party Team Leader. Held weekly training on damage control equipment.

1993-1989 Welding and Fabrication Technician, U.S. Coast Guard Support Center, Portsmouth,

VA.

•Performed major ship fitting replacement of water tight doors, Hatches, hull repairs and fabrication of multi-pile structures that consisted of five 18 inch by 15 feet long steel piles welded together. Performed all stages of welding from Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) to Metal Inert Gas/Tungsten Inert Gas Aluminum and Steel (MIG & TIG).

1986-1985 Housing Maintenance Technician, U.S. Coast Guard Support Center, Kodiak, Alaska

•Responsible for Coast Guard housing on and off base. Responsible for minor repairs to government housing units, this was replacing sheet rock, counter tops, bath and shower fitting, all types of floor coverings, doors, and some framing.

•Attended Damage Controlman “A” School. This is a hands on 14 week school that teaches: Basic Welding, Basic Carpentry, Basic Plumbing, Basic Masonry, Basic Fire Fighting, Ship Board Compartmentation, Ship Board Dewatering.
