After my last contract, I began working in the Eugene area at the many vaccination clinics. I worked in memory care centers as well as nursing homes and spent most of my time vaccinating the public at Walgreens. Starting in September 2021 until December 2021, I worked at Willamette Falls Medical Center in Oregon City. I worked both in the pre-op and recovery areas and occasionally worked in the endoscopy area. My job duties are obtaining patient’s health histories before surgery, starting IV’s, drawing blood samples and also caring for them after surgery and managing their pain and other problems that might arise. I also do a lot of patient teaching for a wide variety of cases, such as orthopedic, gynecological, gastrointestinal, urology and more. I moved to Portland Oregon in July of 2018. I worked in a busy surgery center and recovered a wide variety of patients, including total knee replacements in the ambulatory setting. I occasionally worked in the pre-operative area as well, as needed. After a year, I moved to Eugene Oregon and worked at another surgery center. I worked in the PACU setting that included breast cancer surgeries, general surgeries, GI procedures and some pediatric cases two days per week. I decided to apply for travel nursing positions and was fortunate to find a job nearby in a surgery center specializing in pain procedures and spinal surgeries. I worked in both the pre and post surgical areas and learned a lot about the newest back surgeries that are performed in the ambulatory setting. My contract ended in January 2020. My role as a staff nurse in the Ambulatory Procedure Center in Madison Wisconsin involved rotating through both the prep and recovery areas with most of my time being spent in the prep area. Duties included preparing patients for general anesthesia or conscious sedation, starting IVs, preparing and giving pre-op medications and coordinating patient care issues with the multiple surgical services, including electroconvulsive therapy, urology, eye surgeries, hernia repair and many more. Nursing duties in the recovery areas consist of providing both Phase I and Phase II perianesthesia nursing care and include providing home care education for patients and their families as well as coordinating follow-up care. Professional strengths include excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask in a hectic work environment, excellent clinical skills, and proficiency in electronic medical records. While continuing my role at UW Health, I briefly transferred to the Digestive Health Center which involved similar duties as well as administering conscious sedation.
The Madison Plastic Surgery facility was a free standing private plastic surgery center specializing in a variety of cosmetic procedures including face lifts, abdominoplasties, liposuction and more. My duties were primarily in the pre and post-operative areas and occasionally working as a circulating nurse in the operating room. Licenses and Certifications
