In the Emergency Room, responsibilities while on duty include being in charge of doing history and physical examination of all incoming patients, assisting medical consultants in managing patients in the Emergency Room, giving discharge instructions to patients, writing prescription for take home medications, and making medical certificates.

In the Ward, duty encompasses chart rounds on all ward patients, writing prescription for take home medications, spearheading ambulance conductions, screening of blood donors at the laboratory, doing admitting history of direct to room patients, and making medical certificates, clinical abstracts, and discharge summaries.

Part of the role as resident on duty is to attend to surgical and OB-GYN patients in the absence of surgery and OB junior consultants; admit patients under their respective services, assist in surgical procedures and refer cases to specialists.
