LITERACY ACTION COOKBOOK
I collaborated with a team to compile recipes, proofread recipes, and design a cookbook for my technical writing class. We collaborated with Literacy Action of Central Arkansas and the cookbook was printed and sold.

I am a creative professional with in-depth experience with the Adobe suite of programs. I am proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. I am also proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs. PROFILE
COPY EDITOR/PAGE DESIGNER
Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Little Rock, AR Nov. 2020 – Present
I started by copy editing the news section for grammatical and factual errors. My duties soon expanded to editing the various style sections using AP style and an in-house style guide. My secondary duties involved designing various style sections of the newspaper. My job involved:
Editing and proofreading content for the print and online publication of the newspaper
Using Adobe InDesign to design various style sections of the newspaper as needed using knowledge of typography and white space
Training another editor on my duties while I covered for other sections while other designers were on vacation
GRANTS MANAGER
City of Hope Outreach Conway, AR Jun. 2020 – Jan. 2022
I collaborated with the director and founder of CoHO, a nonprofit organization that works directly with homeless individuals and low-income communities. My job involved:
Researching and writing proposals tailored to specific CoHO Initiatives
Interviewing initiative experts and creating grant budgets
Establishing working relationships and rapport with grant donors
Organizing a work calendar and tracking grant proposals using Microsoft Office Suite of programs (i.e. Word and Excel)
LAYOUT EDITOR
The Vortex Literary Magazine Conway, AR Aug. 2019 – May 2020
Staff praised my designs for their crisp delivery and innovative approach and the designs brought traffic to the Vortex website. The three editions (fall online, spring online, and print) experimented with unique concepts which highlighted the diversity of the literary magazine. My job involved:
Using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator to create compelling cover designs and design between 100-250 pages of print and online content
Exporting the literary magazine designs and publishing them online using Issuu

I oversaw newspaper production alongside the Editor-in-Chief and we scrutinized every detail of the paper down to the last pica. Our collaboration improved the newspaper’s efficiency and accuracy as we effectively delegated tasks. Other tasks included:
Communicating information related to the paper with campus community members
Editing and fact-checking the entirety of the newspaper three times during production night
Leading and directing team members during production week
EDITORIAL CARTOONIST

I drew the weekly editorial cartoon for the opinion section and based the cartoon on one or a combination of many opinion articles written for the opinion section. My duties involved:
Designing/drawing the weekly editorial cartoon for the opinion section
Exporting the drawing into a digital file for placement on the page

I designed the opinion section and wrote editorials that spurred debate and earned The Echo multiple awards. My job duties involved:
Designing the opinion section using InDesign (I spearheaded a redesign of the section using Adobe InDesign’s advanced text wrap options and headshots.)
