Functional Responsibilities
Technical
Supervised and participated with team members to carry out routine maintenance and fault rectification on a varied and wide range of pneumatic and hydraulic operated mechanical valves used in the oil and gas production industry.
Carried out testing procedures in relation to the operation of the valves, (pressure testing using hydrostatic and gas testing techniques).
Trained in Health & Safety and environmental issues within the offshore oil and gas production industry.
Team / Supervisory
Training and development of junior members of the team allocated to carry out tasks as required.
Supervised and directed up to eight technicians, allocating various maintenance tasks and other essential duties whilst carrying out maintenance procedures offshore.
Administration
Supervised aspects of Health and Safety including relevant documentation.
Reported to and co-ordinated with external agencies and customers to complete allocated tasks to a high standard.
Responsible for briefing and carrying out ‘toolbox talks’ in regard to the allocated tasks to enable safe and cost effective completion of tasks.
Produced Detailed Engineering Reports for client companies regarding the overall performance of the valves, to permit them to make informed decisions regarding future maintenance and safety requirements. when required, to allow seamless crew changes as required.
Career History 1988 - Present
After completing a four year apprenticeship, with Score Group, I went on to proceed to Carrying out a range of fault rectification and maintenance tasks on a diverse range of hydraulic and pneumatic mechanical valves in various offshore locations throughout the world and the United Kingdom, rising to a supervisory position within the company. With over 30 years offshore experience on many production platforms. FPSO,s and onshore sites world wide.over the last 10years working in Canada on all oil sands facilities becoming workshop supervisor and focal point at Suncor fort hills facility.
Present employment
At present I am now working with SPM oil and gas a caterpillar company based in basra Iraq .
My position is Senior field and workshop technician In this role my main duties are overseeing and working on all types of valves and anxillary equipment in the workshop, supervising the local nationals,with regards to teaching and training them in the valve workshop. I also carry out work in the field raising permits as performing authority and carrying out workscopes in the field providing support to the field operations on shutdowns and day to day activities when required.I also liaise with the maintenance supervisors and communicating back to the field/workshop supervisor with reporting and paperwork.
Qualifications
SCOTEC Ordinary National Certificate in Mechanical & Production Engineering (ONC).
NVQ Level 3 Engineering Assembly.
Full UK driving licence.
Certified medically fit for offshore employment.
Integrated Safe Systems of Work (ISSOW), Performing Authority Level 2.
